I’m also using door closer so I guess worse case is need to adjust the door closing speed. I’m a bit reluctant to get D100 due to it using rechargeable battery. Would prefer replaceable alkaline battery. Looking at A100 due to apple support.
Yeah.

That's my concern as well.

But if there's enough warning on low battery, I think should have enough time to charge it.

I still feel alkaline battery better, remove and install fresh batteries.

Cannot imagine need to either remove the battery pack to charge or connect cable to the lock to charge it. As of now looking to get A100 once HIP completed at my place in quarter 4

Can I just install for gate? Must change whole gate? Was told old gate won’t fit because need a certain depth. Old gate depth too close to main door

Update: I realised the question is unclear (with terminology "depth") without the context (about A100 or otherwise).

If this is about digital lock for a gate that is too close to a door, then it depends on the lock model you choose and the clearance you have. You can call each vendor until you find a gate digital model that fits or try your luck here in the forum asking based on your clearance . FWIW, mine is about 65mm but I don't lock the gate and hence I don't have one on the gate but I think there are ways to fit a few models.

If this is about install A100 on the gate, then there is more than a depth issue. In short, A100 example is not suitable unless you make a new gate that looks like a door (so that the inner handle cannot be reached from outside).

How do you close your gate then? Remove it? A100 need about 8+cm clearance leh

If you are referring to my reply to @Itsnotfunny, I have clarified / edited my reply to that question since the question posed is ambiguous (whether it is about A100 or any digital lock for the gate).

To your specific comment on the A100 (on door) and a 80mm clearance needed, I think here are the options:
  1. D100 instead if you want the Home Key / Homekit support - it might just fit within your clearance. Best to check with vendor.
  2. A100 - leave the gate open (and leave the door open when you want to lock the gate and let breeze come in for the occasional days).
PS. I assume we are not putting digital lock on gate and door for (doubling the) security reasons! It is not as compelling as putting one sturdy mortise digital lock on the door.

Hi for those who using LockIn S30 pro or Aqara D100, can I check with u something?

I understand for S30 pro, once the “tongue” was push back(door closing) when touching the strike plate,, the mortise lock will extrude out almost immediately automatically, in less than a second (from Alex YouTube video). I’m not sure D100 is it also in less than a second. As such was wondering are users using any door closer?

Reason asking is if using door closer, the speed near the end of door closing will slow down significantly to prevent a bang of the door. So if the “tongue” touches the strike plate when it is closing in slower speed, will the mortise lock extrude and hit the strike plate before the “hole” slot? Causing an alarm to inform user of jam/ door not closed properly…. My current lock auto lock only after 5 seconds so no issue currently.

Hopefully u get what I meant.
this is incorrect, for the S30 Pro the mortise lock will only start extruding when the "tongue" is released out into the bore hole after the strike plate. so there are no issues with the speed of the door closer.

Hi all
I'm considering Zeus or Solity locks due to the sync function. Was wondering if anyone here has experience with these brands.

Also whether I should get a rim lock or mortise for door.

Thanks so much for any advice rendered.

Hi all
I'm considering Zeus or Solity locks due to the sync function. Was wondering if anyone here has experience with these brands.

For transparency, I don't own either brands. I have experience of another kind. Feel free to ignore if there is no value in the feedback.

One looks like a low cost mould of an ODM. I can't find (on Google) the Korea listed company (with a lightning logo) nor can I find the lock on Korea online market too. The rim lock bolt looks thin: if you have the opportunity, check if it is hollow on the inside (of the bolt). The other is an ODM's own brand (house brand if you will). If any has more skin in the industry game, it would be latter. Both are unfortunately light on the materials (heavy on the plastics) but that seems the norm nowadays (and not apparent to most, so let it be). I always prefer the company with more skin in the game (in the absence of any other attributes or requirements).

Also whether I should get a rim lock or mortise for door.

Thanks so much for any advice rendered.

The way to look at both would be: a highly differentiated balance between physical security and price. A mortise lock will be much harder to break - it requires drill and/or highly skilled locksmith or tools. But not all mortise locks are created equal - especially the cateye intrusion feature that is missing from some, without which it is an easy 2 mins job for someone with skills and tool, and without much din. The rim lock gives with a strong kick on the door (for some models, not all): it either breaks the bolt (at that price point, some things do give) or it detaches from the frame (inherent design issue for some models). There is also the secondary (arguable) perspectives of keeping the old key lock or not, and also fit/aesthetics.

PS. I thought of saying that locking both door and gate (at the same time) is usually an unncessary activity that wears you down in cost, maintenance and utility value ( I have an older post on the arguable need for gate lock). And then having two mediocre quality locks is double the pain - it is better to have just one good mortise digital lock (on the door) and still be cheaper than (unnecessary) two rims locks on both. We would have then also answered the question by making it moot. These are just my views, and if you have already decided than ripped jeans is important (as opposed to regular jeans), then peace - we live different requirements.

Edits: correcting my typos as usual.

Thank you so much for chiming in. Yea was wondering why Zeus is a good $400 cheaper than Solity. I had the same thought of just going for door lock only. But thinking through my habits at home, I normally lock my gate and leave the door open when I'm in the living room. So figured 2 locks still.

Was deciding between solity and eazea. I went with solity in the end due to better "feel" and looks nicer.

Haven't installed yet as I'm also doing changing gate + door

I have same requirements as you (sync gate & door + like to lock gate and leave door open when at living room.

I bought their deadbolt lock too. Kaadas was $200 cheaper but the design and user experience of Igloohome is more refined. Even the unlocking chime is more pleasant to the ears.

good to know! I will be switching to igloohome too for my new place. going to get the new gate lock with fingerprint and the push pull lock.

In the industry, a distributor is usually B2B and a reseller is B2C. In Singapore, perhaps due to the small market size, distributors sometimes behave like resellers but not as focused as product line resellers eg. they do not have their own installers. It is hard to tell until after the fact. I observed there are three D100 distributor/resellers (call it what you want) and only one does their own installation for the locks they sell. A single point of contact may give you more accountability and speed in general.
