if u are not in a hurry to get the watch, you can try to register with as many ADs as possible. DJ still possible to get, but must wait for months. SS sports can wait long long.Hello Rolex Veterans,
Stumbled across this forum thread and thought that it'd be best if I get some advice from the Rolex community [please don't flame me, I'm new to the scene]. I'm looking to purchase my first Rolex and fell in love with the DateJust 41 - Blue Dial (126300).
I've been observing the market for this model for the past few months and as expected, it's non existent at ADs and grey dealers are pricing them at a ludicrous amount. I've registered my interest with Hour Glass but am pretty sure I'll never get an update from them. I understand the scarcity for these popular models and don't mind paying a premium for them, but paying $15k to over $16k for a 126300 is just ridiculous (to me).
Appreciate if I can get any advice from people who are experienced in this scene and helping me attain my first Rolex. E.g., recommended grey dealer /ADs / Independent sellers, if $16 for grey market is "okay".
Thanks all!
Which ADs is it possible at? The ones I know definitely cannot get 41mm steel DJ without significant purchase history.if u are not in a hurry to get the watch, you can try to register with as many ADs as possible. DJ still possible to get, but must wait for months. SS sports can wait long long.
abit late to the game my friend...Hihi.
An alternative to dj shall be prob the cartier santos. Theres a blue dial. Obtainable.
Otherwise another one shall be the vacheron fiftysix. Or perhaps the gp laurento.
Datejust 41 blue dial regardless bezel or domed one now tough to get. No harm trying. Put name. Visit ad once a while.
Perhaps u may even like other brands.
yeah money can always earn backRolex watches price is now overly inflated. A brand new Rolex Pepsi is retailing at around 15k brand new in AD but due to high demand over short supply we will have very little chance of buying it at 15k. So the question is if we really die die wants to own 1 in this lifetime than we should bite the bullet and buy 1 at the inflated price of 30 to 40k as long as we can afford it. If feel like being carrot than can choose not to get involve and buy some other watches. I am going to collect an old explorer 2 this morning at near the price of a brand new AD Pepsi. Since I want it just buy it and save on something else. We only live once. Maybe 1 to 2 years down the road and I need money I can sell it back at the price I pay for today?![]()

This is true too. With a budget of up to $16k, many other brands are available for selection. However, it depends if those brands appeal to the individual...If you are willing to pay 16k for a DJ,
Advise you check what 16k can get you for other brands first, if you are still convince 16k for a DJ is justified, by all means go ahead.
Many people buy Rolex for the value retention. It is a good coincidence they are also pretty good mechanical watches. Boring but dependable. If tat is main objective, best to stick to Rolex. If you are willing to pay 16k for a DJ,

16k budget can land you a deepsea dssd 116660. Last gen model. But still a good modern dive big watch.
The current 126660 retails 19.2k.. so i tink the price for preowned is good. Tempting for me too.
I am pretty new to watches too. But yeah theres someting bout rolex besides their excellent resale values.
Admitingly earlier i was drawn to rolex coz of that. Eying the kermits. Batmans etc.
I finally managed to snag the sea dweller 43mm. Its big. Chunky. Even heavy initially as i had not worn a thick watch b4. But heck after a month. I love it so much. I got a longines hydroconquest 43mm and to rotate my wear btw these 2.
I have now dropped my list of air kings. Kermits. Batman and wants a chunkier. Heavier watch. So much so now. I am waiting for a few more heavier hitters. The rootbeer 2t. The sky dweller 2t and heck the sea dweller 2t. And seriously also wanting a deepsea.. i am in love now with chunkier watches.
I had also dropped my interest in the vc fiftysix. Oh ya not to mention err i wont even wan a daytona now unless is full gold or with oysterflex. Lol. Heavy for me is good. Lol.
And yeah i had looked at omegas and now i can say yeah. Theres really more desirability for rolexes. Seamaster 300 is nice. But prob since i have less love for a sub now and the seamaster somehow does wear more toyish or somehow lack that luxury. Or maybe i feel its somehow on the tag heur's diver level. Hee.
Speedmaster will remains omegas most prestige offering and they does well with their limited editions too.
Back to rolex. For sure after this self discovery journey, my taste changed or rather, prob i simply aquired a taste for chunkier. Heavier watches and also precious metal watches. My next few yrs will be focused on acquiring these. Hee.
the price is ok i feel. the longer you wait, the higher the price will be. moreover, you are getting because you like it. just get it and don't ponder.Hello Rolex Veterans,

u can always flip the deepsea blacknow even a 2T rootbeer is 40k. wonder anyone really will pay this amount. Deepsea is very subjective, it's really chunky. thats why when my AD offer me last month for a deepsea black dial, i reject the offer. if i wear it, i dont think i would be able to lift up my hand.. also, even precious metal are rare now. alot of YPs are buying these daydates instead. wanted to get one without requesting package also can't get..
