it's thru dealer to dealer sales.

Dealer A have it for 80k
Dealer B say eh sell me 85k, hoping he can sell for 90k
Dealer C say eh i got customer who wants it, sell me for 90k, sent to customer for 100k

most are dealers who are new in the market trying to get a quick flip and are unable to hold stock for a long time

rinse and repeat.

same goes for AP and Rolex. so now, market crash because it's soft, prices went too high too fast. many uncertainties globally has stopped end users from buying. that's why those dealers holding at 90k, scare liao, anyhow throw price - those are the idiots.

like for example, this shop dealer at bencoolen, don't want to name who la but notorious for throwing price, screwing their customer.

they posted a rootbeer for sale at 40.9k, was sold in a day (well it was the cheapest then), the very next day, those idiots posted the another rootbeer (same as the sold piece) at 39.9k. lol the customer who bought the first piece sure jump, overpaid by 1k within a day.

so with these dumba$$ shop dealers that don't have the capacity to hold stock and at the least post the same price as the previous piece within the short time frame, causes the mass market to panic. End users surfing carousell think prices dropping daily, decided to hold their horses. that's why the prices are dropping so fast.

it has come to a point where prices are kinda stabilised but buying power is not there, everyone is waiting for the next dip. however so, prices are bound to go back up once the buying power is back on track.

if you're looking at that rootbeer/pepsi/batman or anything, this is the time to take the opportunity and buy it.
don't wait till the prices go up and start panic buying - happened in Nov 2021- Feb 2022

how about yacht master oyster flex in rg? :o

overheard

“Oei brother i oredi thank your boutique staff and give cny hamper liao you still want me to go facebook instagram thank your entire lineage izzit

fudge it lah next time u need kidney i confirm give to you return favour”
it is common . within ADs themselves, the staff themselves are also fighting for promotion or good review. It is common for the SE to tell u to write an email of commendation direct to their HQ to commend on their good service.

Wah kaozs. Cant believe that theres argument of rolex vs patek.

Patek is the Bugatti, the ferraris, the lambos of the watch world. Its a totally different level from the Rolexes which r the mercedes, the BMW of the watch world.

Generally, people touch Patek becoz they want to be seen above those wearing rolexes. Its not that rolex is not luxurious, its just more common to be seen in one for them. (but then again, subjective as nowadays theres that hype on rolexes, omegas, cartiers etc...)

Patek, VC, AP are the holy trinity of watch. They are the ultimate horology. How many of us actually appreciate horology. (same like how many of the ladies appreciate how Hermes is made, how superior over channel, coach, pradas) (I know nothing much bout horology, I am prob 1 of those who aspires a rolex and got 1 or 2 simply becoz Rolex marketed to me since i am a toddler. No shame though, the desirability for one is ingrained so deep that yes, I am overjoyed just by finally buying one from the AD. )

But to say rolex is superior to patek is so wrong.

if you want to be relevant with a group of high end dress watch owners for a restaurant gathering

then patek is the ideal watch for this setting
That is quite a narrow point of view isn't it? Besides wearing a Patek to restaurant gatherings, I wear one to the gym, to casual outings with family, going for a walk by the beach, track day at Sepang, with shorts... whatever.

Ironically, I tend not to wear a Patek when I wear a suit.

I know other people who wear their Pateks freely as well.

Just like how I'd wear a Lange with sneakers and denim.

Could Rolex have bought out pp if they wanted to?
Independence is a cornerstone of desirability.. u sell out to swatch group or lvmh already minus points

likewise if rolex even try a buy-out would be seen as blasphemy to this ethos and could potentially ruin the brand (then u can buy daytonas at discount :ROFLMAO: )

Thierry Stern will not consider at all unless Rolex got a blank cheque bigger then Swatch and LVHM?
Even then doubt he will coz he and his family already dedicate their entire life and make what Patek is today.

Elon musk wanna buy either of them also cannot.
Lol.
AP, PP and Rolex - last few standing giants still privately owned.
Even oris is privately owned.

Thierry Stern will never sell no matter how big the offer is. He is only interested in keeping the tradition of the Patek brand and not interested whether it brings him more money or not.

Ya, If he wants more money, he can simply double or triple the production of 5711 in SS but instead he killed it off. Not going to let this model to represent PP.

Don't forget A.Lange too...holy grail.

one big reason why people exclude it from the holy trinity is because Richemont bought them, everything else in terms of movement, finishing, innovation and design is easily on par if not superior

pls take a good look at the crown jewel of the Saxonia family :o

If I wanna sell an old Rolex, should sell it to one of those dealers like Chuan Watch or try to sell by myself? Usually how much mark down will the dealers offers vs what I see on Chrono24?
