Tokyo Hotel Accomdation

Nowadays I feel Shinjuku prices are getting out of hand. IMHO we should really expand the radius to other major hubs. Akihabara/Kanda and Shimbashi/Ginza area also has a good selection of boutique and chain business hotels.

I have search through and saw 2 hotels that fit my budget.

Domo hotel and WPU. Seem like both hotels quite far apart despite both near Train station.

Any one stayed at these 2 hotels before can advise or other suggestions

WPU seems like a good location, near the main shopping and dining areas. Domo is next to higashi-shinjuku (East-Shinjuku) station, a bit out of the way in terms of the main action of Shinjuku, and too far from the main JR station to still be considered near the hub. Depends on what you want to do really.

Stayed Sunroute before in Mar 23. Very near Shinjuku new south exit/bus interchange.

Airport bus stops at the hotel directly, + points to and fro from airport by airport bus.

Going in Feb 2024, so booked Sunroute again. :O

My stay at Hamacho hotel (https://maps.app.goo.gl/eh2sd98bHhi4wZcz9?g_st=ic) was really pleasant. Hotel looks so nice from both inside and outside. The detail to attention was really unexpectedly good. They noticed that we had kids shoes and left behind kids bedroom slippers and amenities. Never have I once seen this at all my other hotel stays whether in Japan or other countries. While rooms weren’t big at 15sqm, it’s very doable if it’s just 2 adults. I even had 2 kids with me. Bathroom is well sized by Japanese standards.

Personally I rather stay in a more local area to experience a different side of Japan. Was already prepared to walk a lot so I don’t need the station to be below my hotel. Even with kids 5-10 mins walk in this cooling weather is still not that bad.

Can entertain any further questions in PM too if anybody’s planning for a trip.

Instead of asking here, should just use hotel website to do a search, so much more options.
Staying at these big station usually mean more expensive or small unit, if you are not visiting the area on daily basis, probably better idea to choose a less crowded location. Bigger space is quite important if staying more than couple of days.

There's always a balance required unless one has deep pockets. Many considerations.

It depends alot on your travel period also. Upcoming sakura season (end mar to early apr), I paid about $850 for 4 nights, which is a lot more expensive compared to my trip in 2019 during the summer. so yah can expect to pay more in peak season.

Conrad Tokyo location is ok, easy access from HND and has bus from NRT.
Close to Ginza and Tsujiki market.
But nothing much in the surrounding area.

Service is super top notch.
Best service ever experienced , for me at least.

I stayed in Hotel Villa Fontaine Tokyo Hatchobori, 5 mins walk to grocery store, 10-15mins to Tokyo station.

900yen for breakfast is expensive since I can pick up stuff at the grocery.

for my upcoming winter 2024 trip I'll be staying at Hotel Sardonyx Tokyo (~12 mins walk from Tokyo Main Station) in case TS is wondering.

Thanks for all the help in receommandations for Tokyo Hotels.
Stay in 2 hotels in Shinjuku region for total of 7 nights.
First 3 nights at Amanek Hotel near Kabuki area in Shinjuku.
Room size is 16m2 with Queen Bed . Quite near red light district but location is around 10mins walk to Shinjuku Main station. Hotel is newly open in 2023 so everything is very new. Around 50k yen for 3 nights
4 nights at WPU after that. Older hotel as compared to Amanek. Location is much better around 5mins walk to Shinjuku train station. Around 160 to 170sgd per night for 4 nights. Very near to those meetup points for KLook tours.

Hope this helps those that wants more budget accomodations near Shinjuku.
