Touring Shanghai, please recommend?

I used to travel between SHA and Wuxi. Used to take meglev. Then I opted for company driver to drive me from Pudong airport straight to Wuxi. Reason? Hate to pass through the security and crowd. Rather sit inside the car and see the scenery outside or check emails or edmw.

Also better to kill time if I’m bring my customer with me. So then can smoke along the way

There is no Meglev from Shanghai to Wuxi. Only high speed trains. The only Meglev is the one from Pudong airport to LongYang Metro station.

The meglev is overrated la. I only took that because it is net net faster a bit including me taking time to change to the station.

Go visit the marriage market in the park on weekend. There is a foreigner section where I even got asked to match with someone working here in singapore.

Hongqiao airport is the nearest to the city.

If arriving Shanghai from Pudong or Hongqiao airports just take the metro train to your destination. Don't have to take the expensive Maglev line or Airport link line.

Shanghai residents are probably the most civilised I have seen compared to other major tier 1 cities in China.

You got approached by some women along the way and she asked for direction and then suggested to go somewhere for meals or tea/coffee or massage. You took up the offer and got scammed. Who to blame except yourself. Luckily you were not escorted to go to the ATM to make withdrawals. If restaurant does that, just call the police. Simple as that. You ask for it and you get it.

You dare ah? You can try asking when they approach you. Just tell them 开门见山吧！多少钱？

You either get caught by the police and made to pay a fine and got blacklisted forever; or you get blackmailed by the local gangsters and escorted to draw money from the ATM.

Pudong to Loyang and to city centre beri nong journey by metro. Did that once from an overnighter.

bet you never try going to Wuxi the old way; no meglev , limited highway and it took almost 2 hours

Got. Kena once when highway accident and jammed. Stop 3 times to let customer to buy drink and smoke

Will be spending few days at the convention centre near Hongqiao airport for conference - seems like quite far from downtown - is there any high speed rail to travel from there to the bund etc?
And is Shanghai disney worth a visit?

Err.. I recently came back from Shanghai and witness it myself.

Not when you were there in the early 2000s. Practically had to look out for land mines on my way to the office every day. Many old quarters have been demolished in recent years to make way for new high rise buildings, and the folks relocated at the outskirt of the city.

Any nice hotels near the bund to recommend?

Try Ji Hotel near the Yuyuan metro line 10/14. Walking distance to the Bund, Yuyuan, and Nanjing East pedestrian area. Line 10 goes directly to Hong Qiao Airport and Hong Qiao Railway station. If to Pudong airport, take line 10 and change to line 2 at Nanjing East metro station, one stop away from the hotel. To go to the old railway station, take bus 930 outside the hotel. It goes all the way to the old railway bus terminal 5 stops away.
