Hi Everybody, just to relate my experience after replacing my EB810V yesterday.

I made an appointment with Starhub regarding intermittent internet connection, dropping for both WiFi and wired devices. The Trooper came yesterday morning to replace my EB810V. According to the Trooper, it's a new set and not recon. It came wrapped up in the usual plastic. According to the Trooper, it should be the same as my original collected in Aug 2024 (ie no change in hardware).

In the 3 to 4 hours after the replacement and boot up, it was great! Using WiFi on my device, loading of new webpages, loading of YouTube app at startup, accessing Aginet, etc was fast and smooth.

But after about 6 hours, the usual symptoms of slow loading of new webpages, Aginet slow response, etc started to show up again.

By evening, 'connected with no internet' and '!' beside the WiFi logo started appearing again.

Today, when my son was alone at home and the rest of my family (4 of us) came back (ie our 4 handphones started to access the WiFi), the router started flashing the 'P' logo and there was no internet at all for about 15 minutes. I had to restart the router to get the internet going. My NAS also reflected the lost / regain internet connection timings.

While talking to the Trooper yesterday, he didn't say much. After chitchatting with him, the idea of problems arising due to the 10Gb internet ports came up. Whether it might be due to heat, the port not being of adequate quality, etc. What do you guy think?

I have not tried / test this yet. I have a switch connected to my 10Gb internal port, I might disconnect this to monitor for a few days. Has anyone tried this yet? I have a friend who is also having the same problems and he doesn't have a switch.

Not too sure if similar routers from TPLink of the same make and model also have the same problems. Or even if EB810V is similar to other models, the 10Gb ports are of a lower quality and hence giving problems.

If it is truly the 10Gb ports, then it will be TPLink at fault, correct?

Conspiracy theories creeping into my head after the frustrations of these problems happening again after I changed router 🤔
Hi there. Maybe as a start, can we know how your setup is like? Eg from ont -> router ( What cable, using data points??)
-how is your switch connected?
-when u experienced the symptoms above, how far are u from router?
-when experiencing those symptoms are u the only one and other users in your hse are ok? Or down at the same time?
- how many eb810v routers altogether in the setup?

So sorry abt the late reply. i dun frequent the forums often.

Well i am also using this router since 2024 and I do not have any issue at all. Can i know which 10Gbps LAN adaptor you are using and which switch are you using? Is it a 10Gbps switch? Such situation can be the work of some malware that can cause a user to lose their internet connection or experience connectivity issues. Malware can interfere with network settings etc. May be your computers are infected with Malware. Never visit Porns sites or visit dark web or any illegal site that can infect your computer. Please scan your computer with a good antivirus. Please enable the firewall and security of your router are on or enable and your computer has firewall and security software all enable too. Some devices that you may purchased online may have firmware that have malware. Some thumb drive can also have Malware. In such situation it can not be the setting or TP-Link fault or else Starhub Tech will notice it. If something is wrong with the setting or TP-Link no good then it will not be fast and good for the first few hours, it is the work of some Malware. Some one must have visit some site or some infected device on your network.

Malware can be used to launch a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack targeting a specific IP address. Malware, particularly that which infects and controls numerous devices (creating a botnet), can be directed to flood a target IP address with traffic, overwhelming it and making it unavailable. By default, SPI firewall and DOS protection are not enable. So user must enable them. Such Malware and DDOS attack have been in the internet world for many years so just be careful not to visit sites that you should not visit la. Visiting such sites is like keeping your back door open.

Do not think this is the EB810v issue as this router is quite good and many users are using it. If it is set up issue then the Starhub Tech will be able to detect it as they are setting up for users everyday.

My setup is ONT -> EB810V -> Cat8 ->
1. 10Gb port -> Hasevo 10Gb Switch S600W-4GT-2XGT-SE
2. Synology NAS
3. Starhub TV box
4. Prism TV

Hasevo Switch -> Cat8 ->
1. Xbox
2. -> Wall LAN Point -> Desktop Gaming PC

'lost internet connection', '!', slow new webpage loading, slow Aginet access, etc all encountered anywhere in my home, including just 2-3m away in the same living room. EB810V is placed on top of my TV console in the open, not enclosed or blocked by anything. Even my NAS and my son's desktop that are connected via wired LAN experience lost internet connections.

The symptoms are not happening across all devices at the same time. My family can be watching TV, gaming on the desktop, playing games on their devices using WiFi, and I get disconnected on my phone when I access an app or even watch YouTube. The EB810V is showing a solid 'P' and the 4 green lights of the ONT are lighted. My son can be alone at home in the living room and gaming on his handphone and he has complained that he experience dropped WiFi connection too.

Devices accessing WiFi do not exceed 20 at any point in time.

Thanks but there's no Malware etc. I've been running TrendMicro Internet Security on all my devices and laptops, which catches and quarantine any that manage to get thru. The last one quarantined happened before Covid.

Another curious thing to highlight:

When I'm using WiFi, I access Aginet app on my handphone, click on the test internet speed, add I get the spinning circle thingy and eventually a 'not connected to internet' message. No dropped WiFi signal or '!' seen.

I close the Aginet app, turn off WiFi, and restart the app, and successfully test the internet speed using mobile data, showing the usual good speed of around 8Gbps.

I close the app, turn on WiFi, restart the app, and encounter the same problems.

This happens for both the original EB810V and the new one. For the original EB810V, I had been experiencing this since maybe around Nov Dec last year.

By this logic, the problem should lie with the EB810V.

It will be best to scan all the devices on your home network. It will be best to report this strange issue to Starhub Tech Support CSO and ask the CSO to refer the matter to their backend engineer to further investigate on this. In 2024, most people are having slowness during peak hours, it was reported to their backend and the issue was resolved. Your set up look ok and simple.

Are all your neighbours also having the same issue with Starhub? May be backend issue. Usually many users having the same issue in the same area/ town or same block or next block, it should be backend issue.

Guys , I have 2 x EB810 and. 1 x HB710. But occasionally the signal can just disappeared and suddenly appear. Especially the 5Ghz.

Any setting can do to improve it?
Or should I call StarHub?

Thanks!

Hi Guys, is it better to put EB810V with dumb switch in the DB box, or HB710 with the dumb switch whilst using EB810V as mesh (in living room and etc) …

Share share my observation on EB810V after about 1 mth usage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Ethernet Backhaul Setup (Left Setup)
I setup my EB810V(Living Rm) as the main router with a EX510(Store) Ethernet backhauling to it.
I have another EX510(MBR) with Wireless backhauling to the EX510(Store) to cover deadzones in the MBR.

In this setup my mobile phone experiences Wifi Sticky syndrome..
ie: When i am in Room 3 or kitchen, my mobile is persistently connected to EB810V with a -70db connection and very patchy internet connection. I would expect that in a mesh setup ....if the connection is weak .. EB810v should auto handover the connection to EX510(store)... I had to turn off/on the wifi on my mobile before it establishes connection to the EX510(Store)

Wireless Backhaul Setup (Right Setup)
I setup my EB810V(Sore) in the Store as the main router with both EX510(Dining) and EX510(MBR) Wireless backhauling.

In this setup, the mesh works perfectly. I can walk throughout the house and I get full coverage everywhere.
*I also observed Wifi Sticky Syndrome when I am on Wifi 6e -> Wifi6 or vice vesa. So I just disabled Wifi 6e on the EB810V.
*fyi EX510 does not support Wifi 6e.

I got a lingering suspicion that the mesh network doesn't work very well under Ethernet backhaul.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Current Parameter Settings

Wifi 6 (2.4+5 Ghz) = ON - Transmit Power - (High)
Wifi 6e (6 Ghz) = OFF
MLO = OFF

Band Steering = ON
OFDMA = ON
TWT = ON

2.4Ghz Channel (I fixed it at 1)
2.4Ghz Channel Width (Auto)
5Ghz ( Channel 48 With 160Mhz )

For all those experiencing default 160mhz/channel 44 issue. After playing around with reboots and combination of different settings, this worked for me.

Press the hard power off/on button, wait abit, power on. Go to 5ghz setting and set to 80mhz/channel whichever is not congested. I'm using 153. Settings sticking currently. Leave it and don't touch anything. I'm on the impression that once you start fiddling around with settings - In my case all i did was change to channel 157 from 153, the dreaded default channel issue started.

Apparently, physical off and on works differently Vs using software reboot.

Try it and let me know.

Is eb810v better than be800?

Much worse than Archer BE800.

HW is similar, FW is crippled and buggier than Archer BE800.

If not how TP-Link can sell Archer BE800 when EB810v is much cheaper.

For its price, EB810v is of great value though. But you cannot compare it with Archer BE800.

What do you say of EB810v + HB710 vs Be85 + BE85 if intelligent roaming + smart, seamless device movement across rooms is priority
