I went my friend's place with my HVR-1300 and powered antenna to test out the reception in buangkok. Can only get TV mobile and weak signals of HD5 (no 5 or 8) on digital.

The very next day, my friend went to buy a HVR-900H. And he told me all the channels (including 5 n 8 n HD5) have very strong signals. All video quality very good. And he's just using the provided short, unpowered antenna.

Weird......

tested on the same desktop at same location~? :s11:

or he use the hvr900 on his lappy at somewhere else~? :(

edit :
many pple can receive all digital channels and HD5 on their hvr1300 with powered antenna too, so it's not a tuner problem~!

Can try FusionHDTV from Dvico. It has both PCI and USB versions. But Memoryworld don't bring in as they need to buy 50 units.

This is my virgin post, so forgive me.
What about for Starhub leh? Can i connect the starhub set top box to the card and view from my monitor? Or do i need a different type of card for the starhub set top box?
When viewing starhub channels on my PC monitor, what kind of default resolutions will i be seeing it at? Some of my friends are saying to go up to HD better, is that true? Will HD also need a different tuner card?

My HVR1300 is a very old card. :o

Its an OK card, but due to aspect ratio issues, I always have two vertical black bars appearing at either sides of the screen (I am using a 24 inch widescreen monitor). Any idea how to remdedy it?

Thanks!
