You don't need USB TV Tuner if you want to connect your StarHub box to Monitor.

If your monitor has HDMI port, just get a HDMI cable to connect from StarHub box to Monitor

Hi, everyone.

I am interested in getting a tv tuner to connect my starhub digital box to the cpu so that I can watch using my PC monitor. Of course, I hope to be able to record the shows, that's why I want to use tv tuner instead of buying a new TV.

My old samsung TV died a few months ago and I heard that nowadays can use the pc to watch tv. Anyone can recommend a digital tv tuner usb type? budget less than $150..?

Hi guys, if i want to watch TV on my PC do i have to buy a USB TV Tuner only? I do not have a Starhub setup box btw. What is the suggested brand for simple usage? No need recording. Running Win 7 if its of any concern.

many here recommend AverMedia Hybrid Volar HX but I checked with Cybermind and Fullwell, they do not have stocks already so i bought Hybrid Volar HD instead which should be of similar spec for $98.

just installed it yesterday but I cannot receive digital channels aka DVB-T maybe due to my location. Analog worked fine and i can receive all the Mediacorp channels and teletext, it came with a small "high gain" antenna with a detachable base and also a clip which the antenna can be clipped onto your laptop LCD. Program scanning is automatic but it will leave you with many disabled/unused channels that you will have a hard time navigating with the remote's ch up/ch dn so you have to manually delete them and arrange the channels to group together. You will also have to manually set to Nicam Stereo on audio settings for each individual channel as it is mono by default.

the plug accepts S-Video or Composite cable so your SH box got to have these output to connect to the cable provided by AverTV.

I am under the impression whether the Avermedia stick is Volar HD or Volar X, it should not matter correct? I am using the version called Volar X & it detected the HD5 as 1080p & I recorded many programs in 1080p format. But if I remember correctly, HD5 is broadcast in 1080i?

So, I am under the impression all the Volar series are capable to watch & record in 1080p??? Can anyone confirm this?
