wats the system req like for recording dvb-t/t2 programmes? i'm currently using a kworld cardbus analog tuner with my 1.8ghz pentium-m. i'm thinking of upgrading to a dual-core 1.6ghz notebook with only usb port for tuner. idk whether its powerful enuf.
As for dvb-t2 tuners, can i juz buy one which is freeview(UK) compatible or Sg uses another dvb-t2 freq/channel?

According to the thread in "The House of Displays", any DVB-T2 receiver that u buy should conform to the version 1.3.1. Earlier versions may not be able to tune to the Singapore DVB-T2 signals.

thanks kiwi. I nvr knew there're different versions of dvb-t2.

i juz came back from sls. the minimum req for recording dvb-t seems to be 2ghz, multicore cpu with a good graphics card. so i guess recording on a budget notebook is not possible. :/

for analog recording, i don't have much expectations for video quality as long as it's watchable. so my 10yo centrino system can still handle. juz leave it on to record while im away. only peeve is it can't multitask well. it's a 1.8ghz pentium m toshiba and juzz a few months ago, the underside of the screen has patches of lines like abrasions which grew bigger and now i can see a few 'blisters' on it too.
anyway, power consumption is my concern. so a notebook beats a desktop for me.

Try to look for tuners that have BDA-compliant drivers. Then regardless of how crap the inhouse program might be, u can always choose good third-party programs, like Windows Media Center, or NextPVR, ProgDVB, etc.

The coaxial output of the HD StarHub STB now do not have the paid-channels received by StarHub. Only the MediaCorp free-to-air channels are passed through the coaxial output.

To watch or record the paid-channels by StarHub, u either pass the RCA connection (yellow, red, white), component (green, blue, red + audio (red, white) or HDMI to your respective tv card.

Can someone recommend me a standalone TV tuner? I have a LCD monitor which I hope can be used to show free to air programmes while my PC is switched off.

What price did you buy this card? PCI-e for the motherboard that have 2 PCI-e slot? Brand? I can buy over from you. DVB-T2?
