lane one is for overtaking, that's all... don't care in what kind of speed, you are not TP, is nothing to do with you and you can't do anything... just keep yourself away from any cars speed faster then yours...

guess u need to clarify are u refering to 'unofficial rules in driving' or thats what the rules in the book say :s13:

pls look carefully. he's talking about speed limits. you replied to him saying not to road hog.

now you're saying driving speed =| road hog. not sure which is which now :spin:

i'm ok letting them pass me, once i see from a distance i'll siam already. let them boost their ego abit. boosting ego comes at the risk of reducing life span.

Good. Please keep up the good habit of giving way to others. Thanks! :)

with the mentality of "im driving @ 90km/h (speed limit) so i can gladly drive on lane 1 with the whole world behind me......."

Very soon there will be vans / pickups / buses / Lorries / Trucks... hack even those old SAF Rovers driving @ 50km/h in the middle lane and blocking the whole world behind...:s13:

Cannot say they are wrong cause they are "keeping within speed limit" and "not blocking the right-most lane" what...

Mind-Blogging what some drivers are thinking here.... :s22:

There are heavy vehicles running on lane 1 also what. :s13:

Ministry of Home Affairs - Oral reply to Parliamentary Question on Tailgating and road hogging

3 “Road hogging”, which refers to the obstruction of traffic moving at faster speeds, is a traffic offence under our road traffic rules and carries four demerit points, in addition to a monetary penalty. Motorists should drive as close to the left-hand side of the roadway as possible, so as not to obstruct other vehicles using the other lanes. Over the last three years, an average of 1,750 summonses were issued each year for road hogging.

Ministry of Home Affairs - Written Answer to Parliamentary Question on how many cases of road hogging were there in each of the last five years, 15 February 2008
Road hogging is proscribed under Rule 5 of the Road Traffic Rules, which states that (a) every vehicle which is moving at a slow rate of speed shall be driven as close to the left-hand side of the roadway as possible, and (b) every vehicle shall at all times be driven in such manner as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed. Breach of that Rule is an offence under Section 131 of the Road Traffic Act, which attracts a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine or 3 months’ imprisonment for the first offence, and a $2,000 fine or 6 months’ imprisonment for a second or subsequent offence. Where a person is convicted of the offence, four demerit points will also be awarded under the Driver Improvement Points System.

so you are road hog if you obstruct other road user that travel faster then you..if there is a TP..he will fine the road hogger plus the other driver if he speeding...

Red light cameras only flash when it detect more than 1 set of wheel(aka half of ur car) passing the white junction line. That's where the sensors are.

The all-red light period is for 2 seconds before another direction turn green. This is to allow any vehicles to clear the junction prior. So this 2 combined, unofficial rule is you just have to worry about passing the junction line before amber turn red. Whether u are still in the junction when the light turned red does not matter. Same rule applies for right turn arrow when its blinking :s22:

recalled something.

there was once on pie towards jurong, between whitley and adam road exits. 1 vehicle was in front of me. i can clearly see that the road in front was very empty. i tried to overtake but failed as there are cars zooming pass me on my left.

suddenly 1 aetos auxiliary police riding a bike appeared from behind, signal the car to the side of the road. i guessed he only got a warning from that aetos fella :D

No one seems to mention this leh...
Keep a distance from cabs to ensure adequate reaction time to they stunts.
There are cabbies suddenly filtered in without signaling, or braking when the stretch of road ahead has no cars. :s22:

Better stay a distance behind them & put on full level of alertness if you are behind or beside them. :(

usually only old people does that. if i have time, i will overtake and then drive much slower than him. i think even heavy vehicles can go faster than 60

but then again, whats the speed limit for that stretch?

that stretch is 70km/h, but nobody do 70 there.

I do not ignore the folly of reckless driving and inconsiderate drivers, which part of my posts gave you the impression that i do? By me not supporting road hogging does not imply that i advocate reckless driving. It is amazing how you can deduce that by not road hogging i become a reckless speedster.

I am pointing out the inconsiderate behavior of road hogging which some users in this thread seem to think is correct. What i said is very simple and i shall say it again, don't road hog lane 1. :)

When did I deduce that u are a reckless speedster? I merely say that u ignore the recklessness of speedster, which is obvious because you replied my post on speeding with remarks on hogging.

what do you think is the right thing to do? stay within speed limits on lane 1 and ignore whatever is behind?

hogging is wrong, speeding is also wrong.. both shd be fined lor.. If compare based on TP rules, those speeding >20km/h above speed limit are worse offenders than hoggers..

obstructing flow of traffic = 4 demerit pts
exceed speed limit by 1-20km/h = 4 demerit pts
exceed speed limit by 21-30km/h = 6 demerit pts
