So it's safer to pay condo maintenance fee using ipaymy rather than cardup? What is the fee for ipaymy compare to cardup?

I have been using cardup all these years

I paid my condo fee on 1 April via Cardup, just to try out. After this transaction being posted into my UOB One card, I called UOB on 3 April and learnt that the MCC of this transaction is 6513, which is excluded after 16 March. This is despite of Cardup's confirmation on 24 March :'Yes, you will be eligible for the bank's cash rebates via CardUp.'

Launching complaint on Monday.

guess we need to watch out for condo MCST via cardup on uob one, guess safest to go through ipaymy now.... though new user of cardup got promo code and lower fees.

Ipaymy APR199 promo code, only 1.99% fee. Cardup GET225 promo code, 2.25% fee.

FYI IPaymy has changed all payment types to be under MCC 7399, still eligible to rebate

Ipaymy really have good business sense. Change of MCC code is not difficult. Just need to ask the merchant bank to change. It makes no difference to them but a world of difference to its customers.

CardUp on the other hand breakdown so much that even the insurer's name appear on the credit card statement. They think their customers want it but no, their customers don't want to see it.

Think no harm for insurer name to appear in credit statement, so long the MCC for the transaction is eligible.

because their business model depends on it. If the whole reason for their business existence (customers getting miles/cash back by paying on their platform) is nerfed, their entire business goes belly up.

In these times where banks are themselves getting nimble and cutting down on margins, businesses like cardup and ipaymy need to be even more adaptable to stay one step ahead of the banks’ multiple changes, just to stay afloat.

Times are hard, their margins are already paper thin as it is.

Yes. But cardup is under the same model too but don't see them adapting fast like ipaymy. Sometime back I saw someone post that ipaymy say they will change their MCC code. I was thinking wow...good customer service....but was skeptical whether they will really do it.

I started using cardup like 3 or 4 yrs ago. Even though I knew ipaymy has slightly lower rates than cardup, I still continued with cardup because I only need to pay once a year for annual premium and too lazy to try a new platform.

But maybe I will try ipaymy next year.

Billing cycle is Apr-May-Jun. With the incoming end on 1st May, should still start the 3 month spending cycle?

Depends on how much rebate+interest you getting if you continue with uob one VS other alternative.

Did you use any promo code for the transaction?

I tried on BOC cards, the code that gets 1.9% discounted fee (applicable for rent payment only) is tagged under MCC 6513

Whilst the other code that gets 2.25% discounted fee (applicable for all payments) is tagged under MCC 7399

This, despite CardUp assurance that they have done the adjustment backend etc etc. Ultimately it's the bank giving the rebates, plus UOB cc rebate is quarterly so the stakes are high to gamble on it.

If my MCST bill is $1000, then could I just pay $500 via iPaymy using 1 UOB card then pay the other $500 via ipaymy using another UOB Card?

Thanks in advance!

You can. Note that for quarterly rebate, u need min 5 transactions in the statement month.

I did not use any promot code for this MCST/condo fee payment.
I guess bank charge commission based on MCC and MCC 6513 has lower commission than MCC 7399.

@vacheron ... your 2.25% payment also rent / mcst related ? or other type of payment ?

2.25% code payment for insurance, 1.9% code payment for rental, both done on the same BOC card

will try using the 2.25% code for rental payment on UOB card this month, I had rental payment made on UOB card without using any promo code (in mid 2019), that was tagged under 7399
