most of us should be aware that UOB calculate the rebate based on the post date, not transaction date.

The post date can be 3-4 days later depending on the merchant. Therefore, better have enough buffer towards end of the month.

BTW, i noticed that some merchant is able to post the transaction on the same day, one of them in breadtalk.

Therefore, those who want to chiong and hit the $800 or $1500 spending, can do so at breadtalk.

any other merchant that able to post on the same day? please share.

Does Breadtalk post transactions EVERYDAY?

Applied for the card but then realised there are so many conditions attached to get the rebates. Probably will just stick to getting uni$ for now

It's based on posting date.
However, sometimes you didn't hit the limit because the posting date exceeds the statement date, you can call them and request for them to still give you the rebate if you still spend the limit. I tried that before.

Example 2 is correct.

An easy way to check your qualifying period cycle is check your rebates. If you consistently spend $300 every month, the month you get the $30 cashback is the first month of the quarter.

I have Cash Rebate credited of $30 on 13/6.

I have spend the following as per statement date, however there is no $30 given. It is really confusing =:p

Statement on 13 Jun:
Cash Rebate of $30
3 transactions post date on 13-31 May = 420
1 transaction post date on 01-12 Jun = 9.63

Statement on 13 Jul:
3 transactions post date on 13-30 Jun = 154.85
5 transactions post date on 01-12 Jul = 270.75

Statement on 13 Aug:
3 transactions post date on 13-31 Jul = 379.16
1 transaction post date on 01-12 Aug = 9.63

Did they forget to give me the $30 or I did meet their criteria of $30?

It's not that hard to meet the "conditions". Basically, if you go for just the minimum tier, just make sure you spend $300 consistently every month within your statement period. Make this your first card for purchases, and pack the rest with other cards.

Depending on your monthly spending, you can consistently go for higher tiers too.

Make this a habit and it will stick. :D

Hey.
It might be UOB's problem. Once I didn't get the rebates even though I spend $300 every month.. Then I asked them and they say it's their fault, so they promised it will be credited to me in the next cycle..

Give them a call!

No, your first statement is pro-rated to give you 3.33%.

just a shoutout here for awareness and for uob's improvement.

it took me more than 3 weeks to get my UOB cc application approved though i'm gainfully employed with regular CPF monthly contributions. The UOB sales rep at the IT fair was v nice and promised to expedite my process to qualify for the promotion spending rebate of $500-for-$100 rebate for the first xxxx. Granted the card is good and the rebate is tempting, but the card approval team took 20+ days when other banks/AMEX can take 1 or 2 week max is really beyond me.

since i already missed the qualifying period and made all my big ticket item purchases for x'mas already, just called in to cancel my card applications. the cso was apologetic but i understand it's beyond her control.

but oh well, that means i got the powerbank for free..

You should read the previous pages for more details, should learn how to look for information yourself.

1st is pro-rated, doesn't matter how much you charge. 2nd and 3rd month then the tier come into picture. Your quarter is base on your assigned statement date. If you apply and get the card in Sep then Sep statement is first month, Oct and Nov statement is 2nd and 3rd thus forming your first quarter, your first transaction does not matter. And your statement is base on your posted date, if your statement doesn't post in time then you will miss the boat.

I receive my card on Sept.
My first statement spent $350(Sept)
2nd statement $900
3rd statement $950

I only receive $30 rebate. Frm what I read, the tier come into picture on my 2nd statement, does does anyone know why i only receive $30 or uob shortchange me?

You must hit the required tier for each and every month. Your Sept spending was only $300+, so you only qualify for the first tier rebate. You needed to have spent at least $800 in Sept to qualify for the next tier.

As far as my understanding goes, the pro-ration comes into effect only if you receive the card after the Sept statement date, then they take the last 2 months into consideration and pro-rate accordingly.

I suggest you call UOB and take it up with them unless you activate the card on 1st Sep and statement date is last day of Sep else it should be pro-rated. When i got my card many years back, it was pro-rated. I spend $100+ in first month, 2nd and 3rd month is $300 and i was given $20+ in rebate, $10 each for the 2nd and 3rd month, 3.33% for 1st month spending.

i only received $20 without the prorated for first month. same for my wife. i also didn't receive the additional 2% for oversea spending. who know when the rebate will credit to my account.

Yes, the call centre is the best way to clarify. But you also need some luck to find someone who can help you. If the officer sounds unsure, you can call again and ask another CSO.

The CSO got confused with my query.

I received the card on 23 Oct. My statement date was 22 Oct. I didn't spend for the Nov and Dec statements. Now that I have received the Dec statement (22 Dec), I asked her whether I am now in the "new" 3 month cycle (assuming cycle follows the calendar quarter of Jan, Feb, Mar) or whether I have to wait another month for the Jan statement before the "new" cycle starts (assuming cycle starts from Nov statement as I received the card after the Oct statement had been generated).

CSO unsure about this. Needs to check up and get back to me. :s22:
