I actually reserved my free upgrade, but how come never receive anything ):
You may skip waiting for the install notification and upgrade now at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

For those who clean install but lazy to install some of your programs again can try Ninite (batch download and install) at https://ninite.com/ Take note though, there's a slight limitation to Ninite, it can only install to your OS partition and doesn't have custom install location.

Overall, pleased with Windows 10 so far. Haven't come into any issues yet. Everything worked out of the box upon upgrade and the boot time seem slightly a tad faster as well.

Anyone have any audio issue?

My volume is very soft. Have gone through the setting in Real HD, its all ok.

Ive even set Enhancements, under speakers properties , to Loudness Equalization, but still very soft.

Windows 10 Shares Your Wi-Fi With Contacts

Unless you opt out, Windows 10 will by default share your Wi-Fi network password with any contacts you may have listed in Outlook and Skype — and, with an opt-in, your Facebook friends.

Whilst Wi-Fi Sense doesn’t share your WiFi network password per se — it shares an encrypted version of that password. What it does is that it will allow anyone in your Skype or Outlook or Hotmail contacts lists to enter into your Wi-Fi network — should they ever wander within range of it or visit your home automatically.

According to Microsoft’s Wi-Fi Sense FAQ, your Wi-Fi password will be sent encrypted and stored encrypted — on a Microsoft server. However, if you have used Windows 10’s “Express” settings during installation, Wi-Fi Sense is enabled by default.

For networks you choose to share access to, the password is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in an encrypted file on a Microsoft server, and then sent over a secure connection to your contacts’ phone if they use Wi-Fi Sense and they’re in range of the Wi-Fi network you shared

This seems to be taking a leaf from Apple, who offer the service called iCloud Keychain (to sync WiFi access information, email passwords, and other stored credentials amongst their own personal constellation of Apple computers and iDevices via Apple’s iCloud service).

Google also have been doing this though, and to opt-out of having your wireless network name indexed by Google, which requires the inclusion of the phrase “_nomap” in the Wi-Fi network name.

The bad news:
The solution to this, requires you to change the name (a.k.a. “SSID“) of their Wi-Fi network to include the text “_optout” somewhere in the network name (for example, “oldnetworknamehere_optout”).

So....
  • Prior to upgrade to Windows 10, change your Wi-Fi network name/SSID to something that includes the terms “_nomap_optout”.
  • After the upgrade is complete, change the privacy settings in Windows to disable Wi-Fi Sense sharing.

Just sharing :)

Have to say that so far my only pet peeve is that there's no easy and fast way to get to the desktop fast. Previously we could Alt-Tab to desktop, now it's either:

1) Hit the Windows key and click the bottom right corner (which doesn't seem as responsive as in earlier Windows versions, takes at least 3 clicks).

2) Hit Windows key+D, which isn't as much of a reflex action as Alt-Tab.

To change the auto-update settings, go to Start - Settings - Update & Security - Windows update - Advanced options. Click the "Defer upgrades" box.

I just found something interesting. On the same page, there is an item "Choose how updates are delivered". Looks rather innocuous but the default setting allows Windows updates and apps to be downloaded to your PC from other PCs on the internet (in addition to Microsoft's servers) and also allow Microsoft to use your PC as a server to upload updates and apps to other PCs on the internet.

The former I object to as I only want to download from trusted sources. The latter is not so bad on a PC but if you install Win 10 on a tablet using mobile data ...... :s31::s31::s31:

Friendly reminder .......

Hmm I think the "Show Desktop" button on the bottom right works fine for normal application windows. I use Google Chrome in full screen and the "Show Desktop" button isn't as responsive (needs 3 clicks) after hitting the Windows key.
