Just curious, where do you guys buy the US stocks through?

Local brokerage or online discounted brokerage? Care to share the name?

interactive broker is the best deal.

Sorry I am very new to investing in stocks, but this is what i found on FXCM...doesn't this mean that it is bad? And the stock will drop this evening?

US Attorneys Plan Investigations into FXCM & Possible Breaches of Equities Rules

yeah thats why its a punt. the stock has dropped so much, any entry now is a punt that the market has overreacted to the losses, and that the damage is not as bad as feared.
hence there is value in it. but its a punt...

Interactive Brokers. Half a cent per share with a one-dollar minimum, and the FX conversion gets done basically at mid-market. There's no contest if you're a big trader.

For smaller traders (IBKR has a minimum of $10k USD, and charges inactivity fees below $100k USD), Stanchart is good because they don't have a minimum brokerage, it's a flat 0.2% or whatever. Their FX rates are pretty wide, though.

oops never realised on the inactivity fees...
my stocks holding is less than $100k... oh dear.. i didnt know i will get charged on that?

paiseh, i meant they have a local bank account (citibank account in Singapore, if i am not mistaken), so you can do FAST transfer from your local bank account to their local bank account

As compared to ThinkOrSwim, i have to wire transfer to a bank account in USA, which costs me additional money (roughly $10 or less)

i honestly dont have memories of being charge for inactive fees leh.
I trade every month, but i doubt my commission is heavy too.. at most $30 a month?

Ya, your trading comm enough for them not to charge you liao, I vaguely remember it's $10 or $30. Anyway, will find the effort to read the IB account opening thread someday when I'm damn free... the thread, think about it also...:s22:

Are u kidding? Anytime you buy in past few decades would made u happy.

I have KMI too. If it's own projection can march on despite the oil plunge, it will be another long term dividend king, but I have my doubts.

Need some advice. I'm currently still stuck in Herbalife, NYSE: HLF, went in at 70+ on average. (Before the investigations) Low P/E ratio. Poor earnings are expected to be released due to the many issues arised last year. Do you guys think a rebound is possible?

sorry bro,

(this is my biased opinion)
Since 3-4 years ago when I first saw the Herbalife model and my frens doing it on facebook and thousands of Indonesians at our suntec city convention centre last year for a herbalife event, buying huge amounts of herbalife products at some discounted rate and walking around town with herbalife jersey and all

I never felt that the business model was successful.

1. I see it as an MLM and they typically don't last long

2. It is a game played by hedge fund managers and retail stock holders are sitting ducks in this game.
Bill Ackman shorts on Herbalife
Soros and Icahn and whatever beting against Ackman

3. These kind of business model usually peak and bust.
(sad to say you bought at near peak)

4. Its a stock I will never touch, I hate mlm.
My advice is to sell it at a loss if you can stomach, but don't take advice from the internet.

Try seeking alpha, it's not exactly a forum, but tons of quality articles. Look especially at the invaluable comments which often provides better insights than the article itself.

As for cnbc live stream, no idea. It isn't even recommended to listen to these anyway.

my 2¢

Looking at MKL for the longest time...
Over a 1 year, 5 year, 10 year chart, BRK.B & MKL always rise above the market.

SGX now's your turn.
