No one interested in Berkshire A or B?

Everyone is interested, maybe not the A but surely the B. Just waiting for it's price to come down. If you read the first few pages, got a few mentioned they have it.

the USD should be steadily rising barring any major events. What is your concern regarding?

Currency doesn't affect stock price, it affects company performances. Especially those with high international exposure like PM. A rising USD would make it's performance look worst than it really is as $$ are convert to USD for accounting.

Anyway, tonight 3M! another one of the behemoth I can't wait to buy ,reporting earnings. according to research, it will beat earnings due to strong 3rd quarter performances. Looks like I might have to wait even longer before dipping in.
Exactly that i am concerned that the strong USD might affect the company performance. Esp if they have international exposure. Eg Apple, PM. Pharma maybe also affected? Maybe? Still reading and analysing

If you are looking for in-depth analysis, I highly recommend seeking alpha, and especially read the comments section.

Currency risk is always there, most companies would hedge some of their currency risk. USD won't rise forever, you just stack your way in perhaps?
Main thing is still how much a company is earning vs debt and expenses.

Yea....been spending my spare time reading Seeking Alpha. Great site...and yes the comments are very useful but at times the conflicting opinions in articles gets me really confused. I start doubting my own reasearch. LOL

That's why even experts disagree, those are for research purposes, you have to form your own opinion, it may be Contrarian to general consensus but that usually is where $$ is made. See which side of the coin are you more in agreement with.

Qualcomm -8.3% premarket after reducing its outlook for fiscal 2015, saying it expects its newest Snapdragon mobile chip to not be used in a "major customer's" flagship smartphone. The company also blamed increased competition in China for the reduced guidance. Still showing surprising growth for its latest quarter, Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) reported that first-quarter net income rose 5% from a year ago to $2B.

ya, bank and tech really exciting.
I'm still 30% invested in US, the rest in SG. I can see why people don't wanna play US market, watching market at night is tiring. Even I mostly just buy and hold big blue chips, not much TA, amazingly avoided a lot of noise in the process though.

If SG market got blue chips with long history of incremental dividends growth, I wouldn't mind just focus on SG.

Using what? SCB most value for money if you are small investor, limited budget. Otherwise try IB lor. Yes, jin gek sim when taxed 30%, but on the other hand, capital gain is $0 Tax.

Yep, a couple of things.

Stanchart has no minimum brokerage, just a flat 0.2% or whatever it is, so if you're a normal investor buying small lots then Stanchart's going to be the cheapest.

ETrade charges a flat $10 per trade, so if you're trading gigantic lots then they might be cheapest, but I reckon if you keep pumping 10,000-share trades through E*Trade they're going to call you up and say "sorry, we're changing your commission, you're losing us money".

IBKR charges half a cent per share with a $1 minimum, so they're likely the cheapest in most circumstances.

Yes, there is a 30% dividend tax on US shares. No, you can't avoid it or claim it back. No, there is no magic tax dodge (except for some ETFs, where you can buy the Irish-listed equivalents that get taxed at 15% instead of 30%).
