UPDATE: Now Singaporeans can just use the e-gate, no need any prior registrations
If you have used the previous MDAC system before, you can use the egate
If you have never registered for MDAC before, you can use the egate
FAQ
Can I still enter/exit JB via getting a stamp at the counter?
Yes, you don't need to use the scheme if you don't want/need to
Can I enter using egate and exit via counter with chop and vice versa?
Unless something desperate happens and you are forced to approach the customs officers for help
Best practice is for you to go in and go out by the same method
Better safe than sorry, it doesn't matter that your friends or even the customs officers tell you; one chop without its corresponding twin is always a risk some customs officer can ki siao and get you into unecessary trouble. Remember this is bolehland we are talking about
I tried the e-gate but it give "Passport Read Error" how?
Try again but this time firmly press your passport down flat on the glass panel
If still cannot, try another machine
Still cannot, try another machine, until you try at least 5 machines in different areas of the hall (left side and right side)
No joke, sometimes Malaysia own passport also have same error, they just try other machine till can
If you are going into JB, first try the machines on the extreme left side of the hall (the ones facing the left side not the ones facing front) as they seem more reliable
if queue too long try the machines on the extreme right side of the hall as they are newer, also there is an customs officer outpost in front of you so if you jump and wave enough they might see you and come to help
If you are leaving JB, you can try the machines on the extreme left side of the hall (the ones facing the left side not the ones facing front) as they seem more reliable
UPDATE: Due to Malaysian govt requirement all visitors (with certain exceptions) to fill in the digital arrival card. This thread will be renamed to reflect it's intended purpose; which is to contain info on how to register and use the e-gates
What is this?
It's a scheme under the new MACs 2.0 system that is implemented by the Malaysia government to allow Singaporeans to use the e-gates normally only used by Malaysians
How to Register
Go here: https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main?registerMain
Fill up the form, up to 3 days before you intend to enter Malaysia; with your details and you are set to go
The first time you do this, you NEED to go to the specialized counter between 8am to 7pm, Mondays to Thursdays (assume this excludes public holidays)
Link to a picture of counter
Once You Are Registered
Whenever you want to go, fill up the exact same form, the exact same way, but now you (should be able to) go through the e-gates, for both going in and coming back

Depends
If you are taking coach as part of a tour group, the coach still has to wait for everyone, so while you can clear immigration faster you still need to wait, sometimes in the hot carpark/coach waiting area instead of the aircon immigration areaif you are taking CW bus; it can help because you clear immigration faster so you can be at the head of the queue
