To confirm if e-gate users need mdac, just try not applying and go scan. If cmi, just on the spot do registration online.

That's what happened to my mum. She forgot to register mdac. On the spot she do, can go in liao. Unfortunately, that was before the announcement that mdac was not required (unknown for manual/gate users). So haven't had a chance to test out since then.

Unlikely MY's IT will spend time removing this prerequisite...so just continue submitting MDAC.

With some counters and eGates closed during their upgrading exercise, it'd mean the others will have longer queues.

Unless you've school-going children you HAVE to bring over during this period, why not wait until it's over? Or your better-half's over there, or you've urgent errand/s to run, or you've already make prior arrangement/booking before the announcement...

What's the urgency? :s11:

If you have not registered for MACSv02, then no way you gonna be able to use E-Gate.

If you have registered for MACSv02, then submit MDAC & try the E-Gates.

If you want to register for MACSv02, then also submit MDAC & go to the counter to register but Friday cannot register - Monday to Thursday only.

E-Gate usage is separate from the recent confusions.

I am thinking of signing up MDAC and take the auto gate at JB custom and go to Larkin to take the KKKL bus all the way to Kuala Lumpur/or take a flight from Senai Airport at JB.

1) If I do a return trip via flight and the flight custom from Kuala Lumpur and the custom see I don't have stamp, is it risky?

My past experience with taking bus from Golden Miles complex to Tuas Checkpoint is not that good. There is a 2 hours JAM at the custom area, before the bus proceed all the way to KL.

I thought you did a similar trip a couple of months back - if that trip turned out well then I think this latest trip should be fine too; unless that earlier trip was all via buses.

Anyway E-Gate use is only for JB & KL, so should be fine. The part I'm uncertain is at Senai Airport ie how will they take to your un-stamped passport.

However better ask the Immigration Officers before executing your plan.

Yes, KTM JB>SG has eGates too.

Go into the hall on your right after you get off the escalators and down the corridor. There are 2 or 3 eGates there. Not sure about the other hall.
So I used it earlier this week. Two e-gates in the hall on the left after coming down the escalator. The other hall doesn't have e-gates.

On unrelated note, on return at SG train customs at Woodlands, noticed they have new type of e-gate w/o exit lane. They have a few kiosks clustered together and after successfully scanning passport, you can't exit directly but go to exit gate to be scanned again. Think its slower than the usual type of e-gate as several of us had long time getting scanned at the kiosk successfully.

Just a sec...the hall with the eGates are in front while going out the escalator, then on the right while walking along the corridor, and turning right at the split, no? Or they've changed since the last time I took the train quite a few months back, coz those were the same eGates I also used way back with MACSv1.0. :look:

Yup, reason why I stopped taking the train since > our new inefficient feeding-station immigration clearance system with (back then) a wet market-attitude crowd-controlling aunty. Experience was a total turnoff. Like herding animals into a feeding station and out after they're done.

That aunty would have said you all don't know how to use that's why cannot scan successfully, agreeing with that uncle (traveler) who's passing by from the manual clearance counters.

No blame culture so not system problem hor ...

Just registered for MDAC for the first time. I need to go to the manual counter to register first before I can start using the egate right?
