went for my virgin trip to vietnam saigon.
now feeling super withdrawal syndrome.
As a first timer to vietnam, maybe i should share my advice.
1. Those who want buy sim card for short trip and doesnt use a lot of data, go to the most left shop after exit arrival hall, i got my sim for 80k vnd for 6gb of data (more than enough to use for a week).
2. A lot of people will poach u the moment u exit airport to take their private vehicle. if you comfortable with it, give them a price you comfortable and tell them its inclusive of all the toll/parking/airport charges before pay them. Else, grabcar will be ok too.
3. Some check in counter will close early (1 hr before departure) and dont give u chance even u late for 1 min. Make sure u reach early (cater time for traffic jam also).
4. When tour around in hcmc alone or 2 person, book grabbike to have better experience and save cost.
5. Make sure check out the price of food before ordering for those eatery without price listing, you might get shock of the bill.
6. Dont bother to shop in ben thanh unless last minute shopping before departure (must bargain if buy there), go to saigon square for clothes and cho lon for food/kitchenware/helmet and etc....
7. Most of the merchant dont like big notes, so make sure you have a lot of small notes.
8. Try to be polite there and say thank you (or cam on), and dont mess up their products if you not buying.
9. Crossing road with many vehicles is not difficult as most bike will avoid u (but still need to cross with caution), but need to watch out for large vehicles like bus, trucks and etc.
