normally most people would stay at ben thanh area ...

In the morning is more of market, selling fruits, souvenirs ...
Evening time, some zi char would open ...
Some stalls would be selling clothings, shoes, luggages, etc
Need to bargain with them ...

District 1 Ben Thanh is where tourists hang around. For me, i prefer to stay in Pham Ngu Lao, also known as back packers street. There is a walking street, and i like to take a walk among the clubbing joints before i sleep for the night. The walking street is called Bui Vien.

Ben Thanh market area is the Tourist area.

Every city will have certain designated areas for tourist

Just like
Bangkok is Pratunam area
Bali is Seminyak
Phuket is patong
Penang is George Town

Never once have I said that Ben thanh is bad for tourist.
No.
You just need to be careful and be wary that's all
There are vendors who are all out to scam tourists. And then there are vendors who are very honest and very fair.

And the initial question was asking about "cheap shopping".
being a frequent visitor to Hcmc myself due to work, I will get help from my local business partners if I wanna buy certain things and avoid being charged higher, just because I am a FT

What hotels have you all stayed in HC C district 1?
Looking for recommendations.

Alagon Central Hotel & Spa, Eden Stars Saigon, Le Duy, Asian Ruby 2, Asian Ruby Central, etc

Shortlisted before Lan Lan1, Lan Lan2, Elios, Vien Dong ...
Due to their brekafast varieties considered not bad ...

Most of the 3* hotels that have stayed in, their breakfast only 5 to 6 dishes only. Alagon Central Hotel & Spa, Eden Stars Saigon, Le Duy spread not bad ...

need some help here, getting nervous again as the trip to HCMC is getting closer each day.

Question 1:
For Simcard, should i book from Vlook instead,
5GB of data for S$8.15

Q2:
Saigon skydeck and heineken combo, S$29.18 per pax
ok to go?

Q3:
Full day excursion to mekong Delta, S$67.70 per pax

Q4:
The cu chi tunnels are fully booked during my trip..
should i go on my own?
worth going?
Book via grab and return?

HCMC hotels good ones seem ex, like Sg hotel rate. Some of their 3 star quite cui.

Btw, I'm buying sim card from Klook, but collect at Da Nang airport, it's a tiny bit cheaper than collect at Sg airport.

For SIM card is quite easy.
Klook Most probably abit cheaper.

I’m intending to get from airport. You won’t get charged too high for that.
And anything issues. U can settle on the spot.

For skydeck. I will just do it as optional.
Meaning. If have time to visit. No time. Skip that.
Unless this is a MUST go trip. lol then u book the trip
Else. Just buy it at the counter when u r there.
I’m sure is open to public.

For cu Chi tunnel. Thatz the only thing in Vietnam
U don’t find it elsewhere in any countries.
So best to go for the “sighting experience”.
I’m sure there r local tours to that. Just book other local tour agency
If Klook is fully booked.

When I’m in Saigon, I like to hang around District 2. It’s more modern and gentrified, yet doesn’t feel overly touristy. The foreigners in D2 are mostly expats who are there for the long term.

yeap. its meant for atas residences.

Its quite amazing to me personally whereby 7-8 years ago... D2 was nothing much than endless stretch of grasslands with small pockets of short houses.
