Just back! How many times do they need to go down in a week???
I don't mind if they want to do maintenance 7 times a week but at the f**king least inform us about the impending downtime!!!!
And forget about calling them, whenever it's down, nobody will ever pick up the phone!

Anyone having problems playing games on steam? I keep getting disconnected from all steam games.

Non-steam games seems to be ok though.

Anyone else having the same problem?

connection seems pretty ok today, fast and stable.
:):s12::s13:
Im connected directly via cat 6 and my norm is 800+. Fastest record so far is 930+. Today is bordering on 600. Going out soon so can't be bothered to call NOC.

But for those of you complaining about the crappy performance and crappy support, you will feel it more if you are a long time user like me.

At a time when no one has heard of VQ I took the leap and signed up with them. They had just launched residential service, before that they only had business clients. It was damn ex in those days but speed was super fast, connections were stable, super easy to speak to someone on the phone and problems were solved practically on the spot.

Fast forward 4 years later. Speed is sometimes ok sometimes not. Lots of downtime. When you call at times the phone line doesn't even work. And even if you get a dial tone, be prepared to wait ages to speak to a human. Sure prices have dropped but so has everything else.

I still remember how before they got banned from here, VQ staff always encouraged us to post at their Fibernet forum saying that one is manned and response is fast. HWZ not official so staff don't always come here.

Yet there were times when I posted there and got no replies from VQ staff. So much for "use our official forum for faster response".

And as what someone pointed out, their tech support used to be top notch. Guys like Antoine and Andrew were solid. They knew their sh*t, were super polite and customer oriented and happily went the extra mile. Don't know about Antoine but Andrew has left.

And many of the new CS they hire just CMI. Its become quantity over quality. They sell so many subscriptions that their tech support can't handle and instead of hiring quality tech staff they just hire and tom, dick or harry.

Perfect e.g. is the guy who delivered my Asus AC88U. Asked if he could assist to make my AC68U a repeater. Yes, simple task but I'm a network idiot. I recall asking here before and was told you need to connect a repeater to a ethernet port.

The guy didn't. He set it up as a standalone and while my phone could detect the AC68U, that defeated the purpose. I didn't want my iphone to be connected to my AC88U when I was nearer my living room and then have my connection temp disconnected when I went to my bedroom and my iPhone had to connect to the AC68U.

I wanted something that would EXTEND the wifi signals from my AC88U. Just like how at my work place, there are tons of repeaters all over the place and regardless of where I walked, my phone was always connected to the same network. Would be stupid and pointless if there were several networks throughout my work place. Imagine my phone connecting and reconnecting each time I moved from place to place.

Explained it to the guy and he tells me he has never done this before and this is all he can do. :s8:

Then I tested my speed and it crawled at 10 Mbps even though it was direct connection to my ethernet port. He stood there like a dumbo not knowing what to do. I told him to look at the speed. He went to the zhone and router and did something. Later the speed was ok. Asked him what happened earlier and how he resolved it. "Dunno". Great! :s8:

This is a classic case of spending all your money on marketing and trying to boost sales but forgetting about your back end support.

I totally agree man. Another year and I am getting outta here. :o

Anyway, Punggol network seems to be quite slow now. Last checked 103 Mbps download speed.

By the way, what you are describing with the Asus router is an Access Point, not a repeater.

But the guy setting it up probably got confused when you called it a repeater :)
