Sad. The few month old power plug for the ViewQwest ONR has died. Switched the plugs from router to ONR and now the ONR doesn't have a slow blinking light while my router has a slow blinking light. So definitely a dead power plug. I moved the plug to another socket too.

Not looking good as I only ever faced a similar issue with the original Zhone router years and years back. But even that lasted at least 1 year.
My favourite is still that small little pi4 looking modem that replaced the Zhone router. Oh well, hope they'll supply a better power plug than what came with this ONR.

Currently switched the ONR to Router mode and wow. Didn't realize the rest of the ports were only 1Gbps.

Well, at least they are efficient in getting someone to come down and change the plug on the first weekday of the week.

Output of "mtr -P443 [myip]"
Code:
Keys: Help Display mode Restart statistics Order of fields quit

                             Last 50 pings
 1. ip-103-164-54-12.static. ...........?....................................
 2. viewqwest.sgix.sg ...............................................
 3. 132.147.112.108 ..........>....................................
 4. chj-dsl13.vqbn.com ??????????????.................................
 5. 137.59.xxx.yyy ???????????????................................

Actually, what could be the cause of this? It seems like packets are always dropped for many seconds before it succeeds.

Anyone getting 10ms higher ping than usual? Normally local game servers my ping is below 10ms as of last Saturday increased to 27-30ms. Australian servers also went up same amount. (POE2 launch weekend was 85ms now its 105ms)

Log in VPN same not sure where it is coming from, never had any network disruption just woke up one day and higher ping than usual.

Tried restarting all my gear makes no difference. Also did a fresh Windows reinstall did not help.

I dunno what's the ping, but there's some lag in loading of web pages tonight

Quick update - network maintenance didn’t help my issue. Called VQ up and they said they will take note but no actionable - maybe cos it’s weekend crew?

I have second ISP with MR and comparatively recent weeks it’s more stable, but around middle of the year it was the opposite; which was why I got VQ initially as backup ISP in the first place - couldn’t afford the downtime.

If high availability is your priority then you should get two/multiple ISP rather than completely jump ship
Update - VQ changed my CGNAT gateway / subnet, and the packet loss issues disappeared. Switching back to ONU later today.

Flicked ViewQwest email, made online enquiry regarding upgrading my 1Gbps to 10Gbps but they don't respond. Seems like they just don't want my business.

I will very likely move away from them as they don't care about existing customers.

better to call them. much faster than waiting for them to reply via email.

Anyway, i also upgraded 1Gbps to 10Gbps (submit request via viewqwest portal on 18 dec) and they just delivered the modem today. Was told change out the current one and it should work. Am still at work so can only do it tonight.

It’s probably not your module. I been getting packet loss for 1 min windows every 3-5 min since 11 December 8.30pm. Each episode lasts for about an hour, then it will stabilise for some 4 hours.

Thought it was the ONU, swapped back to Fibrehome ONT, called VQ to switch back to ONT (wasn’t getting an IP address), and my pings were still dropping in the same pattern. Tried again with direct ONT connection to my laptop and same behaviour - been on and off VQ tech support hotline until I saw the email about the maintenance.
Will plug VQ ONT back in later today to see if the maintenance fixed things and then swap back to ONU if so! (Luckily my other ISP contract hasn’t run out so I could fallback to it meanwhile)
how quicky can they swtich Fibrehome ONT to Huawei ONU on the backend.

seem like the new Fibrehome ONT modem is wonky, the first gen white dua ki modem used for 6 years no problem, this one a few month only up lorry like....power led blinking

I wanted to sign the new 3Gbps plan from.viewqwest. But when i called and ask, i heard its only for new sign ups. Existing customers whose contract has ended can only renew the 10Gbps plan

Do existing customers atleast get to recontract the 10gbps plan for $25 a month?

I have been with viewqwest for exactly 8 years now. This is the cost of loyalty. Starhub 5Gbps looks very attractive now. The CS follows up with me every week enticing me to switch over.
It often makes zero sense for companies to offer any significant loyalty perks except when attracting new customers, because it'll cost a lot more to offer massive discount to existing customers which already generates a predictable revenue. Better to spend the money to acquire new customers.

As a customer, if want to enjoy the discount no choice have to take some effort to switch around.
