i have issue with taobao too, the page all cannot load.
Send a service request via email yesterday and no reply at all

One potential solution is to use VPN.

I am using SingTel. Without VPN the ping is also pretty bad. With paid China VPN, it becomes much better. I am using AJS but there are other options like Transocks.

HK VPN may help as well.

1) with China VPN
~ $ ping -c 4 item.taobao.com

Aiya.. i got fed up.. went to apply Malus just for my wife to use taobao.. damn fast.. us$68 for 2 year.. no regret!

it's slightly more expensive than AJS, but i don't have china phone for AJS, so malus supports email registration.

Hi, anyone on Viewquest 2Gbps having Netflix issues e.g. 'you seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. please turn off any of these and try again?'

Above error message only happens if I try to watch devices using Wifi. On the same VQ network, using LAN, there's no issues.

Can anyone let me know the default login and password to the VQ ONU on 192.168.1.1?

Viewqwest came back to me and they fixed the routing.
at least now my taobao is working again without VPN.

Can someone do more testing?

anyone on vq with issues? my ping on speedtest is 110ms and download speed of 25mpbs on a 1gbps lan line. hougang

Hi, anyone on Viewquest 2Gbps having throttling issues? I used to be able to get 900+ mbps for both upload & download but as of 16 Oct I have been getting 500+ mbps for upload. Not sure if it's an exchange problem for NE AMK side. Anyone able to verify?

No changes to my hardware / home setup whatsoever. VQ said their end no issue and will arrange for replacement of modem. Honestly dont think it is a problem with their modem tho...

It's definitely not an issue with my network setup as I connect via ethernet and can see the total throughput of my network via my Pfsense router which matches my iperf3 speeds.
I've contacted VQ support about this via email but they didn't reply for about 3 weeks before replying to ask if I was still facing this issue, really regretting getting a 2 year contract with VQ at the start of this year thinking that it was the ISP for tech savvy geeks.

I would suggest you request for a fee wavier / discount for your subscription if they are still unable to resolve your issue by the end of this month perhaps?

I thought I was the only one. I even replaced my Lan cables in case they were the problem. The internet speeds, specifically the download speeds were extremely wonky. 1 speed test, it is back to 900+Mbps, then the next few runs, I am stuck at 600-700Mbps for download.
I even made double sure it was not the router by connecting directly to the modem itself. And even system restored my Windows to an earlier image in case something messed with the ethernet speeds. No change. Last time this happened, I was with my Zhone router and it turns out, the plug itself was failing and can cause the speeds to fluctuate. But since with this new modem, I doubt that's the case.

But with you guys having the same issue for the past few weeks as well, glad to know it's not my problem but theirs instead. Thanks. Now I can complain to them with confidence and not because of any error on my part.

wondering whether its still a good deal or i should find another isp . need to recontract by mid nov . seems like the no router 24 month contract is $37/mth

frankly starhub home hub is looking pretty attractive.

Do make sure to email them to see if your plan has any promotion. I was planning to recontract 2 months back but then they mentioned that my current one gave me 6 months free after the 2 years. But I was still being billed.
After telling them what this 6 months free was since I was still being billed, they reversed my bill and am now enjoying 6 months free till next year based on whatever plan I got with them 2 years ago. So since your time period is close to mine, I presume yours could be some promotional event plan as well. Thus I wanted to share in case if it's true for your case as well.

my soon to expire viewqwest recontract is
FibernetTM 1Gbps Max Plan @ $42.50/mth
$10/mth off 1st 10 Months subscription. $32.50/mth for 1st 10 months.

old contract $920, new contract would be $888 over 24 months.

btw: do they resume a non contract rate or charge you at your last known rate if you don't recontract ?

anyway, i doubt they will have better recontract offers since their recontract price is the same as their new sign up promo price

My Youtube doesn't work right and I cannot access Netflix's site at all. Not even just Netflix.com URL itself.

Viewqwest has been such a headache for the past year.

Made many tries to call today.
3-4 times calling
1-3 times both around 20-30 mins each and no one picking up
4th time - got dropped off at 1hournplus mark.
Is everyone getting a downtime? Lol
