Decided to get tiles instead of vinyl. Talked to one of the major vinyl company and felt that the sales person was kind of avoiding my question about water seepage.
For peace of mind, I will spend more on tiles. Don't want to deal with bad smell n mould/mildew underneath the vinyl flooring a few years down the road and end up having to re-do the flooring.
Many things can happen to cause water seepage, aircon leaking, pipe burst or heavy rain when u forget to close the windows (which I have the habit of..) and no one is at home to wipe away the water immediately.
I have allergies n asthma too, so mould /mildew would be bad.
u do know that tiles have grout lines.. mould / mildew can be trap in the grout lines of tiles and u cant really clean it with a normal mop or wipe down as the grout lines are indented ya?
Vinyl dont have this issue of grout lines. The Grout lines of tiles get black with dirt and mould too.
