If I were Singtel I will disable 5G NSA and give 5G SA for Singtel MVNOs. Then keep 5G NSA and 5G SA exclusively for Singtel. Let the disgruntled customers hope over from MVNO to Singtel. :devilish:

Generally MVNO customers tend to be more price sensitive and wouldn't go to Singtel even if their MVNO network chui. They will just b* and m* about Singtel and Temasek online. :LOL:

Why, when SA is the superior network?

NSA is 4G/LTE tech. You don't get any of the important 5G benefits from NSA.

I've been using Mr 5G for a while, and what I would say is StarHub (Mr using their network) is working very hard to enable 5G in more indoor locations. Nowadays, I see more 5G networks available, and switching between 4G and 5G has improved.

However, compared to SingTel, they still have some room for improvement.

Wanna find out anyone using vivifi $10 with roaming.... what happen after 12months. No more 1gb free overseas roaming?

I also asked Vivifi the same question as my 1GB Data Roaming to MY/ID/TH is expiring next month. Attached below is their reply:

You may want to upgrade to Free 2GB roaming data to Malaysia, and Free 1GB monthly recurring roaming data to Indonesia and Thailand are applicable for 12 calendar months. No additional charges.

does that mean we no need to do anything except to request CS for free upgrade when into 12th month of service with Vivifi?

It's Sporadically available for now, but it's also the expansion pathway moving forward.

Based on the deployment plans by IMDA, telcos are supposed to provide 95% SA coverage, and supplement with NSA, not the other way around.

So if it's still Sporadically Available, write in to IMDA and feedback the exact locations, call the telcos out for failing.

In terms of power usage, NSA is also more costly to maintain than SA. With rising electricity costs. I'm not sure pushing the more inefficient network makes any sort of sense. When we also consider much reduced latency, ability to support more cellular devices in the same area, increased bandwidth caps on SA, then it's quite senseless to even want to keep NSA.

I think in terms of power usage, although NSA is more costly to maintain than SA, this is highly mitigated as the telcos need to maintain 4G networks anyway, more so when 3G is closing down soon.

So maintaining 4G and NSA together is cheaper than SA as the equipment is mostly shared.

Don't forget, telcos also have to phase out and replace existing hardware. It's not just a matter of a firmware upgrade to "enable 5G".

If you have to buy a new base station/cell to replace the older ones anyway, would you buy a 5G one with ROI spread out over a longer time, or buy an older-spec 4G+5G (NSA) one that has a limited lifespan that you eventually still have to replace with a 5G/6G model?

Which would be the more sensible thing to do?

No choice. If the 5G/6G equipment cannot support the old spec, it is still considered an entirely new and costly investment for the telcos.

Perhaps they will start to ramp up 5G standalone equipment when it is close to 4G shutdown, but since 4G is still around now, I expect them to hang on to the NSA infrastructure.

Anyone tried Vivifi roaming for worldwide 21 days $33 for 6GB, in particular for New York and Zurich airport ?
