8860 is a new number.

Nowaday still have alot of prank calls. Best is to place it for 6-12months before start using.

How can it be a new number if already registered to PayNow & Grab under the previous owner
I think he meant "new" in the sense that it's a fairly new assignment block as opposed to "new" as in "freshly minted, first customer".

But because there're no contracts, numbers get recycled back into the pool faster now.

It wasn't a prank call. The taxi driver actually called twice, he also dunno the number he called cos drivers can only dial thru the app (number hidden).
In any case, I am gonna cancel the line and reapply for a new one.

Just curious how come numbers get recycled so quickly nowadays.

Having an old number, someone spoofed my phone number and give another party a call. The other party called me back and ask why i called him so many time. Just unlucky that your number got spoofed, nothing much. (if the taxi driver can get ur call, someone just booked the car mins before)

Another quick check, please check paynow/ paylah/ shopee/ lazada if its registered. This will determin if the number is used.

I think for Shopee you can delete the account. But not entirely sure if the number will be released for new registration again.

Is this your case?
how sure you think 8860 is kept before renew?

I interpret "new number" as those issued by Giga, which normally have not been registered to any owners before.

Not sure why on one hand you stated 8860 is a new number and on the other hand, followed up with a question on being a recycled number?

why not.. apply use 2 month and terminate
"New Number" as in never been registered before. Used for 2 months and terminate is not "New" but "Recycled". Would anyone buy a "New" handphone from me after I used it for 2 months?

However, I concur this number is probably used for a short period then dumped.

all 3 telcom do not have new number, only mvno if lucky get new no as their no might be recycled faster due to no contract.

Why no "New Number" in this world? Does it mean right from Day One when Singapore started using Cellular Services back in the 90s, ALL the 9XX, 8XX & 7XX..... numbers were already issued and registered to users? By the way, those 8889XXXX numbers issued few years ago by Giga, do you think they are Recycled Numbers as well?

No new number in this world but if lucky can get "New number" but is actually a Recycled Number??   (y) OK la... like that win liao, buy Odds also win, open Even also win...

Have a good weekend :ROFLMAO:

There are still plenty of unused blocks around that the telcos can regularly bid for.
See page 19-21 as well as Annex 3F:
https://www.imda.gov.sg/-/media/imd...ational-numbering-plan-30-july-2018.pdf?la=en
So yes, there are new numbers that no human in SG has ever used that will enter the market from time to time.

Some do that to get new referral benefits.

You should write to Shopee and escalate.

I think he should also write to IMDA. The previous guy registered the number for paynow. This is really risky because if the friends of the new owner of the SIM card paynow to the number, it goes to the previous guy's bank account.

IMDA might have to relook at the policy because paynow is now very common compared to years ago.

Don't have so much time to complain. lol.
I have already written to VIVIFI to terminate line.
Lesson learnt, just my luck to get a bad number.
Will get another line and perform necessary checks!

Thanks everyone for your inputs! ❤️

Hello all, I was wondering if they have auto roaming? Their FAQ don't seem to be very clear-cut on this part but just mentioned about activating roaming before going overseas.. I would like to know if they can receive SMSes overseas because I am not based in Singapore.. thanks~~
