Port-in was successful without any trouble. Goodbye Changi it was a good trip, but I had difficulty reconciling it with the multiple airport encounters a day. :( CM line went down at 11pm, and new number was done by 12.57am.

Been using VIvifi for a week or so, no more airplane mode unlike Changi. At least proven not my phone issue but their network.

To be fair, M1 network has improved.

Some years back while in between jobs and I drove Grab for a few months, M1 had crazy blind spots all over. Signed up for GOMO and it was much better. It was quite obvious how bad it was back then - i found some blind zones around parts of Changi Airport. Was quite easy to test - disable offline caching and stream music (eg Spotify). The moment your music drops out, you know that the buffer has run out. As long as there's no data, your music is disrupted.

Is it true about the numbers being old ones? Any issue with receiving spam calls etc when using the line?

just do a sanity check like what someone mention earlier (e.g. check paynow, grab whether number is in use)

I just got my SIM card today and I think it's quite a nightmare.. I've downloaded several apps and I can't receive any OTPs... Tracetogether, comfortdelgro, gojek.. their FAQs instead, redirects you to the app provider instead.. :/

*Edit*
Got all the OTPs working this morning~ Takes a bit longer for it to process..

Its a nightmare using M1 and its related mvnos especially on apps like waze or google map. Due to its sudden drop in data, the app might cause the driver to miss a turn and need to renavigate when the data returns

This is so definitely true. The dropouts when you suddenly come into blind spots are annoying. But this is only something that few get to experience the reality of how bad it can be. For most occasional users, it doesn't bother them much. Even for Spotify, I just subscribed to premium so I could have offline downloads. The radio is okay, but not really my kind of music. :s13:

I remember getting totally zero data driving around the new Australian named estates in Sembawang area - Canberra Street and all. Was pretty bad. There were other parts of Singapore too, and going into indoor carparks to pick passengers were the worst - also total dropout for some condos and buildings. Couldn't even click the "Driver arrived" - I understand why some drivers click the button the moment they reach the building, before they enter the carpark - they can't even start the trip after picking the passenger cos there's no data - they have to start it after they leave the carpark. Really disruptive. But that was some years ago, so I hope M1 had improved since then. My usage the past few months with the current job is different - mostly on the ground in housing estates, no carparks. Still I had blind spots often and even missed calls. So I didn't feel the network was that bad. I guess it also depends on how people use the network, and whether their job brings them around.

Anyway, just an observation after 2 days on Vivifi. The battery life on my Pixel 4a has noticeably improved after switching from Changi to Vivifi. Does say something about the network. :(

Signal strengths play a part in battery life. Last time I was using Grid and my old battery with 82% life still can last till 5:30PM with 18% remaining battery. Now I even change a new one with 100% life but left only 25% after 4PM with different telco (now is using CL sim).

Yep. Am aware of that fact. :)

I just didn't expect it to be that bad. Similar kind of battery usage patterns as you have shared, so the reduced drain is very noticeable.

Can I check if my existing SIM card only plan with Singtel 12 month contract will end on 16 Mar. I already paid up till 16 Mar in full. No outstanding. Can I port over to vivifi earlier (eg. 1 week earlier)?

vivifi allows change of ownership during port in right? I read from their FAQ that we can upload IC etc of the existing owner details and transfer the number to another person during port in. Anyone managed to done that before? Any issues?

thanks!

what you can do is to sign up on website first. receive/collect your sim card but dont activate sim card until your contract ends.
singtel will charge a bill for that few days of usage but after a few months they will pro rate and return you the amount by cheque. (i didn't even told them they over charge me for that few days)
