Jerga? :s13: :s13: :s13: Spend your money elsewhere better. I saw the end result on my friend's car, nothing impressive and the first run was quite shoddy, he has already since sold his Mazda3 and moved on to Mini Cooper.

Any shop that can offer unlimited touch ups, and guarantee for 10 years in Singapore weather.... I think it's kind of telltale to avoid. :s13:

would avoid as far as possible....service and crap tnc....unlimited touch up is useless if chiu have to keep wasting time and petrol to keep going touch up etc...

#Throwback Coating done after new car collection :D

Sadly the effect was gone very quickly after 3-6 months. Maybe I wash it too often.

Personally, I find that detailers charge quite a bit and its mostly due to labor.

As mine was a new car, I did a wash and decon, and a one step polish Gyeon Primer by hand.
Followed up by Duragloss ceramic coat which i purchased from MadDetailer ~66 dollars and did the coating myself. Overall took 4-5 hours.

Maintenance wash the car every 2 weeks and during drying use CarPro Elixir as a drying aid while adding gloss and a little more protection.

So far happy with the results, a few times kana bird poop on the car just use a tissue cover over it and wet with water. Let it sit for 30s, then gently rub it off. Comes off very easily like a teflon pan.

Now many cut throat shop advertising on FB at very low rate and can come your car park to do, price is only 1/3 of what other shop charge. I dare not to try.

Thats always black sheep in every trade..
There's too many, just watch out for those mobile groomers.

My mobile groomer was average for my vios, but they remove swirls and stuff and it's only $100.... after 2x, the 3rd x I outreach to them, they never reply, but still on my FB... I just take it they no longer want the business.

These are the ones I asked about their surface prep process and what is their delivery aim. Most cannot answer. They just want to come, do, apply, run.

To be fair.. it's weird to expect a service (worth $200) to be on the same level as another that's worth $800-1000. Confirm got shortchange one mah. Technically speaking they're not wrong, $200 for ceramic coating but they never say surface prep is very detailed :s13:

Mine came with foam wash, clay, single step paint correction & 3 layers of coating, so it was good enough for me. I tailor my expectations to the price I paid lor.

all these coating only costs less than $50 per bottle....?
Egg also costs $2+ for 10, but one still pays 50-80c for one at beehoon stall :)

Raw materials is cheap, effort and cooking to make it good is another thing. Make it good nice and people willing to pay you, is another.

I don't agree. I didn't point a gun at you to offer something at a lower price compared to others and yet to give a satisfactory delivery. If you call yourself a groomer, it should be done right, done properly and delivered without blemishes.

If you wanna shortchange then upfront state it clearly, that you won't be doing surface prep and/or delivery a properly treated/polished car. Like that, anybody can buy raw material ownself coat already.

You want to offer $1 nasi lemak, you cannot be giving half cup uncooked rice, and 1-2 ikan bilies with 1-2 peanuts and say we cannot compare you with power nasi lemak or others. It's in nature to compare value for money. And to help people discern the best, it's better to come up clean...

What worries me is not they cannot or I shouldn't expect the same delivery as brick/motor shops. It's the fact these details aren't made known and it's simply a car wash ($8) + any-how-coat ($10?) at $200-300.

They provide lesser quality service, at a cheaper price, steps listed out, why is it shortchanging customers like you or me? :s11::s13:

When there's a big difference in price, be it coating packages or other things in life, my common sense will tell me features will be lesser, product will perform lower, or corners be cut. Cannot pay peanuts and expect premium mah.

Either way, let's agree to disagree :o

Actually to cut a long story short, it is about 'self granting' the title of a "Detailer" and never about the price.

Prices are set by the market and by yourself, so let it be such.

The whole sticking point is that - if a person DARES to call himself a 'detailer' and doesn't have (ironically) a keen eye for details. He might as well call himself a "Car Washer" instead of a "Detailer". :s13:

Its not about the moola or one's expectations. Its about what kind of expectations one is expecting out of the job title.

The fella can call himself a detailer and charge $50 for 2 layers of coating and do a damn good job and be worthy of his 'detailer' title VS another fella calling himself a detailer, charge $800 for 10 layers of coating and do a sh*t job when a car washer at the petrol station can do a better job than that. :s13:

Is the mislead and mis match of job titles... Similarly, bus drivers now become bus captains. Lolz

I havent been posting in HWZ for ages.

But looking at this thread. I cannot resist the urge to share my recent dealing with mobile detailer i found on carousell.

the detailer quoted the below job @ $138, alot of fancy marketing description but i will just write the layman.

Exterior
Foam wash
Claybar
Rims wash
1 step polishing
tyre shine
paste wax
sealant

Interior
Vacuum
Full sanitisation
Deep cleaning with soap
all seats thorough cleaning

I knew something was wrong when he called me around 1.5hrs later, saying "bro, i am finishing in 15mins, u can come soon".
As I happened to be downstairs, I went up within 8mins and already saw him sitting on a chair watching video on phone.

He showed me he did a clarbay wash and one step polish... but when I ran my hand over the car body, I can already feel the dusts and bumps! almost nothing has been done!
Anyone whom wax cars knows the car surface will be buttery smooth to touch after waxing. But mine is squeaking.

Guess what... he only wax the car bonnet and the car door handles!! The top, the rear and the doors are untouched...

I was so shell shocked... I didnt rebuke him on the spot. I kept quiet, gave him the money and went home. Afterwards, I managed to find his FB biz profile and gave him a bad review.

He msged me the next day, argue here and there, but offers to refund me in full if I am willing to remove the bad review, which I did.

From then on.. I would rather DIY, wash, clay, wax.

There are alot of such cut corners washers on Carousell. Rushed job, no skill. I wonder if the car owner sat there.. how they rush the job :s13:
