I guess end of the day, opening a HK bank account might work too.
When I was in HK, Stan Chart had no issue opening bank account for me, but did not proceed due to insufficient cash on hand at that moment.

Anyone has HK bank account and able to verify that it works similar to a Mainland China account?

I have HSBC Hong Kong account with multi currency including CNY. It works similar to a Mainland Chinese account. I can use Alipay and Wechat wallet online paying CNY.

You can try and let us know here?
Most internation credit card can be linked with Alipay and Wechat, all posted before in this thread,
nothing new ?

I was based in China for a long time in the past, I have 6 domestic bank accounts, and all are multi currencies accounts, When My wife' transfer money, it CANNOT be RMB, eg the SGD will enter my mutli currencies account, and than I have to go down to the banking counter , present my documentation than they will check than convert the rmb which will than be in the RMB act.

Of course things may change...so waiting for you to share your experience whether it is possible ?

As far as I know, HK, Macau & Taiwan Nationals are treated the same as Chinese Nationals,,,
and currencies control is based on Nationality and not which banks , Maybe things have change,
we await your results ?

If I visit China, I will try and ask HSBC China if I can easily transfer CNY between HSBC China and HSBC HK or HSBC SIngapore.

Hopefully after that You can post the outcome so that everyone knows what is the latest regulation,

because there is "push' to make it easier for foreigners...

but personally I feel, apart from those places I named, the rest as long as currency control is there, it is difficult, maybe they will come with a certain limits.

You may like to look at Bank Of Communication, HSBC has a stake in it, maybe can be linked, not very sure.

I see, do you happen to recall/know the requirements to open a HK HSBC account?

This will be helpful information since the regulations are loosening for non-citizens.

Can't you just scan the travel agent QR to make the payment?

They give you the QR code vs you scan their QR code, it's the same thing.
1) putting money from youtrip into the ewallet
not possible

yeah can be done. how you gonna get money into your ewallet is another ?
3) if there is no money in my ewallet, i xfer money to china and that money come from my youtrip ( possible??
meaning you pay using your YouTrip card lah. Possible if you tie the YouTrip card to your payment app.

WeChat Pay and AliPay has a 3% transaction fee for a single amount > RMB200.

If you link to a credit card or debit card, the wechat or alipay will deduct from the card. No need transfer.

What is the point using Wechat and Alipay if there is 3% transaction fee for >RMB200.....?

If I use HSBC HK debit card paying RMB, no transaction fee. So I wonder why use Alipay and Wechat wallet??
You'll have to find businesses that accept your HSBC HK Debit card.

Most places only accept China issued cards aka UnionPay.
