My house renovation will be completed roughly in a month time.
I will also require to install Fiber Connection as previous owner did not opt for it. (!@#$%^&*)
Which service provider shd I choose ?

*Note : Singtel, Starhub, M1 are mostly out of consideration.
MyRepublic / ViewQuest ??

I mainly use my the internet for HP / Surf Net / Watch Dramas / Cpu Gaming (A bit)

Thanks in advance

Honestly, other than the feedback you see from customers, the next biggest difference is price.

Will you be at the PC Show @ EXPO?

Also - FTP installation is $235.40 chargeable by OpenNet.

MyRepublic has a promotion where they'll credit you the $235.40 on the 18th month of your contract, so you can save a considerable amount that way (you still have to pay upfront)

ViewQwest has no subsidy on FTP installation, however you can opt to pay it in installments over 24-months contract.

Thus if total cost is the biggest issue the choice is clear (though of course there are many other factors which IMHO outweigh cost)

Heard that M1 300Mbps will come with Free OpenNet installation this coming fair. If you look at IDA research you will know how other isp is doing for international speed.

The fact that he's not considering the big 3 ISPs probably means that he's seen the light… :)

Am also in the same boat considering which ISP to go for. Saw the MR fiasco with all the complaints frm those who signed up months ago still yet to get their line up, now a bit stuck on which to go for.

I don't like traffic light isp but after doing research for very long, look like no other choice and have to stay with traffic light isp. MR & VQ is no better than traffic light too.

My MR contract coming to an end soon, also looking for another ISP.

Considering VQ but their offer is no good. Free 1 lan point? I don't need another lan point.

Any others ISP can consider?

If not I think I'll go back to singtel

Probably because VQ is marketed at tech savvy power users or those who enjoy the VPN services, which is not what you were looking for :)

Edit: Also your research doesn't seem to corroborate online feedback. It would be good if you can substantiate claims like that not to risk giving poor advice to people who wouldn't validate your claims.

You can also consider M1 if not MR if you're just looking for plain broadband services and you're looking for cheaper plans.

Yes ST is quite good and stable but i hope that some new isp that is better will join the consumer market in addition to the present isp. Many time in sg we are in a position where we have no choice, choice. Quite sad.

There's a reason we don't do crazy promotions - at the end of the day the cost has to come from somewhere.

Our prices are set to allow us to not only maintain the kind of standards and quality people have come to expect from us, but to continuously improve both the network (in terms of buying more bandwidth, new routes, better equipments etc...) and our after sales service (we host regular workshops on various topics to teach customers how they can make the most of their broadband and we're scaling up our home consultation program whereby we send an engineer to your house to help with whatever network/wi-fi/techie optimiations you might need).

If we start price slashing we lose the ability to do all that, and become no different than every other provider.

We get that this kind of philosophy is pretty new in comparison to how other Singapore ISPs do business and attract customers - broadband promos are deeply ingrained in people's mindset. But we think that paying that little bit extra to get an amazing fibre broadband experience is totally worth it :)

Honestly from a consumer point of view, do not think it made sense. Other isp price is much much cheaper and service is still good.

Why don't you come down to our showroom and compare for yourself?

200 Bukit Timah road (5min from Newton MRT) - we have everything setup for you to test and have some LAN points as well if you'd like to bring your own laptop.

Great coffee machine too if you want to relax and enjoy a kopi with your favorite show on Netflix/PPTV :D

As much as it might sound "bad" for VQ, I'd rather the normal consumers stay away from VQ. VQ support is able to provide very fast response to tech savvy ppl as (VQ+ the tech savvy customers) are able to narrow down the issue very quickly. Not to forgot, andrew prowling the forums assisting users almost 24/7 for technical issues
