Let's be clear. All these going green initiatives don't save the earth.

What we're doing is simply delaying the inevitable of global warming and destruction. As population grows, demands and needs, grows.

We can don't use plastic bags, don't use petrol, but either way, earth is dying. Honestly, going green NOW, isn't going to cut it.

It's just hogwash that people think going vegan, going green, will save the earth. The only way to save the earth, is for humans to die off and let the earth recover. So I don't really believe in going green to save the earth is by buying EVs.

I buy is because I had a good deal and opportunity. Else, I'm still happily revving my 2L petrol car.

Collected your SL7 already?

I cant believed still got ppl think they need to wake up at 4am to remove charger

I believe for hdb EV charging lot. Idle fee won't be charged between 9pm till next morning 9am. Those who started to plug in and charged a few hours tagt won't be bothered to shift their vehicle .

But with now and now hdb owners buying a EV.. then probably they might have to shift the vehicle in future.

So long its under the non chargeable idle timing, ev owner will park till next day. Applies to everywhere. Ev is ev. It doesnt matter who buy the ev, stay landed condo or hdb.

I also believed the idling rule wont change coz it doesnt make sense to wake up at wee hrs to remove car.

I'm genuinely curious why the topic of EV attract so many haters?

EV haters talk until how lousy and bad EV are. Nowadays see car fire must be EV EV EV.

Meanwhile, 62% of all new car sales are EV?

It is mostly not about EVs, deep down inside it is about change.

After our G wacked off a good chunk of PARF rebate, I am kinda decided on EV next.

More COE renewals of hybrid/ICE? I can trust LTA to tweak PQP of COE renewals or more disincentives down the road.

That is the reason why I don't intend to get a EV . With more owners switch to EV. Definitely not enough to cope

U dont really the hdb charger. Use dc charger outside 30-40mins settle. 1 glass of kopi and social media abit done. U dont even need to charge full and can go off alr. Its a matter of getting used to it.

Ev is like the transition from nokia to smart phone. Once u are used to it, it will be a norm to u. Plus u dont even charge daily. I do phv and i need charge daily. I dont even find it a hassle to me. Been charging for 3 yrs.

Most impt is financial sense totally not worth to buy petrol/hybrid due to the pricing now.

I guess to some people, their lifestlye is very rigid one and they can only squeeze in that petrol pump once a week 10 mins kind.

For those, if the places they frequent or their homes, dont have an accessible charging lot (always taken up by taxi, BYD etc) then it doesnt make sense unless u go for Tesla.

cos for me, i was one of the early adopters 4 yrs ago. Thankfully i went for tesla as the superchargers meant good access and little downtime despite my place dont have charger at that time. Last time really need make it coincide with ur lifestyle (pickup kids, then go causeway pt charge + NTUC, done for the week)

Now with accessible charger lots at home, my downtime at petrol kiosk is 0, just go there collect shoppee parcel nia. People keep saying need to wait very long la, but with accessible charger, I just plug and go off (I charge in the morning after i send my kids to sch)

So unless u have decent accessibility, then getting EV makes sense.

Ya first thing is they need to change their mindset. Then they can make their time more flexible. Rigid or not is ownself set one. It can be changed.

Most ppl want convenience. Reach home mscp plug in go home. In short its call lazy. If no charger they will say charging is very troublesome so no ev for them. I had been charging outside for many yrs. When my car is ready, my kopi haven finish yet. I dont know where is the troublesome.

U should know last time so little charger available. Now there are plenty outside. Even i stay at hdb i also can find dc charger 5 mins away from my home. Last time i need to drive 15 mins to find one lol.

With AI powered robots, it becomes viable for the overlords to let a large proportion of the population die off. However politicians in some countries would resist this as they may still see high population as necessary for their continued affluence and benefits.

If I plan to buy an EV, I would love these EV haters. Bcos of these EV haters, the take up rate for EVs will not increase so much and Govt will then need to retain EV rebates longer to entice these EV haters to switch.

5-10m in DC charger works also. EV is about charge as you go. There are negative incentives to charge full full with current generation battery technology.

My 2 cents

1) road tax not optimized for EV - u pay $ for every Kw (aka horsepower) the car come with. In comparison, petrol car is taxed based on engine capacity - 2-3L turbo cars can output same power as 5-6k annual road tax EV but pay only 1-2k road tax.

2) instant torque good for city driving but not for high speed cruising. Many EV esp china one still using primitive 1 speed motor. U get a poor top speed of 160km/h or the motor start to overheat when sustaining 160-180 for long driving on msia highway.

Conti EV already coming with 2 speed transmission to allow higher top speed, but overall the EV industry still long way to mature their transmission technology.

In meantime, u can easily leave an EV in the dust by exceeding 180 on msia highway with a high performance ICE car.

Road tax is based on HP as well, so a 1000bhp EV, you're going to see $10,000 road tax.

2-3L still depends on the HP, my 2L is 165bhp, so road tax is $1.2K. Current is $2.2K for the EV. However of course, electricity vs petrol the savings are about 75% per month, but this one debate until stale liao.

EVs aren't great for high speed cruising cos higher wind-resistance, and lesser regenerative braking, so whilst an EV has great power, it might deplete faster opposed to an ICE on the roads to KL from SG.

Wow, what car is big brother @EJB 's 2L?
