Managed to get soundcore a40 for $96 (with $10 cashback to offset future purchase) on lazada.

Most expensive earbuds ive bought have been using those <$50 ones hehe.

Talking about Baseus, I bought their powerbank before. Super bad experience. The capacity is much less than what is stated. It charged to full in an hr for a 10000mah then failed to charge my phone (4000mah)fully,only charge to 50% before powerbank itself is drained.

powerbanks.... I also tried many brands... Baseus UGreen, Rav, Aukey, RPMAX, Valore Remax, and some other cha pa ang brands.... all give me the same problem. the power bank start to swell after 6-months...

at the end of the day, I still go back to Xiaomi power bank

That bad? I had xiaomi and samsung before. Both gd, no swelling, charge well etc

Just bought 2 aukey mini recently...
Will update this Yr end if there's any problems. Hopefully I'll rmb haha

Which is the Right one for you? AirDots S or AirDots 3 or Buds 4?
IMO, I feel the Redmi AirDots 3 is a half-baked product compared to AirDots S and Redmi Buds 4, even though it is newer than AirDots S, it has the longest battery life among all 3 models and supposed to be the successor to AirDots S and AirDots 2. but it is lacking in a few areas

• The list of built-in touch input commands are more pathetic than AirDots S.
• The overall sound quality is lacking
• Features within the Xiaomi App can be considered ridiculous and pathetic
• removal of Gaming mode which was previously found on AirDots S

Which kinda make this comparison more of a AirDots S vs Buds 4.
If you just want a very basic, no-frills tws, AirDots S is the choice
If you prefer some ANC, transparency, Buds 4
If you want longer battery, Buds 4
If you want better sound, Buds 4
if you are concerned about price, AirDots S

Just started Testing realme buds air 3 neo today. After testing for 2hours…
1) audio output is definitely one of the loudest if not, the loudest
2) so far no sound distortion, shrilling and weird sound at max volume
3) music quality is nice and balanced. Vocal is very clear, forward. This is A HUGE HUGE HUGE improvement from the previous gen, Buds Air 2 Neo.
4) Call quality so far is ok. Very strong ENC. voice separation from background noise is one of the best i have tested so far
5) App support only for android users

Henabi. Check with you. Do you know if it's possible to customize the ANC mode with long touch? I noticed it's on right earbud, but I am wondering if this can be changed to left side. I know one two three touches can customize, but I can't find for long touch.

As far as I know… there is no options in the Baseus App and Qcy app to customize Long press.

but hopefully, future updates, they will allow long presses to be changed as well.

afaik, the ear tip shape and size for HT03 and HT05 looks to be the same. I have no issues interchanging the silicon seal between both models.

Best if you can personally try on the eartip for seal fit and comfort

I dun like comply. Dirty easily and in rare case like mine, the hard plastic core got stuck onto my wired iem nozzle. In thr end the nozzle broke... Have to send it for rma

Ever since, I stick with all silicon, rubber etc. No more foam with hard plastic core!

After testing out several wireless earbuds from LENOVO namely LP5, XT62 and the XT98, I have mixed feelings towards their tws products, because it seems like the company is focusing on [PRODUCT QUANTITY] and not [PRODUCT QUALITY]
So, over the past year, several of my viewers requested for LP40 Pro... it was on my "TO-DO" list for almost a year. I was a little reluctant to test and review the LP40 Pro, until the 3.3 sales event.

[Side story - when I was mid-way through my reviewing of the XT98, Lenovo told me to stop the whole review, which was sad... Because it was generally a good pair of ANC earbuds.. Maybe I will do a special episode on XT98...]

Most of the tws earbuds I reviewed are mainly in-ear earbuds. For non-in ear tws or half in-ear tws, I tested less than 8. If I include LP40 Pro, it will be no.9 but after using it as my daily driver, I actually didn't regret getting the LP40 Pro.

Summary

• Let’s look at the Pros & Cons
• Pros are: Decent sound quality even at max volume. IP54 rating. featherWeight. Design. Decent battery life. Comprehensive touch commands
• Cons: No ANC. No app support. Mediocre mic. No Low latency mode

• LP40 Pro comes in five exciting colours: Black, Pink, White, green, Purple. I got the green one
• If you missed my unboxing, feel free to check out the link here and in the Description box below.
• The charging case is very compact and small. There were several times I had to do a double check just to make sure I bought them out.
• The finishing is glossy therefore it is prone to fingerprints, scuffs and scratches.
• Putting the LP40 pro side by side with the Airpods 3 casing, it is pretty easy to mistake it for a “Mini AirPods 3” if not for the company name and product name printed on the front & back of the casing.
• The earbuds look somewhat like the Airpods Gen 2 with a shorter stem
• It comes with the same colour and glossy finishing as the Case.
• Something interesting here is… Even though LP40 Pro earbuds are non-in ear. It still has a very short eartip and it is wrapped with matching colour soft silicon seal.

Comfort & Fit

• The earbuds are extremely lightweight at only 3.8g
• They are very easy to wear since they are non-in ear. The earbuds do not go into your ear canal. It just stays at the entrance. The smooth curved outer surface of the earbuds make it an easy slip-on for almost all ears.
• After you put them on, its easy to forget them.
• It comes pre-installed with M-size soft silicon seal. Lenovo provides additional silicon seals of different sizings, so you can mix & match to get the right comfort. For me, I am fine with the default M size
• The soft silicon seal also act as a thin layer of cushion between the earbuds and the surface of our ears
• Therefore I don’t feel any ear pain or fatigue After wearing them for 3-4 hour straight
• The stem makes it very easy for me to adjust the earbuds without accidentally activating the touch commands.

Music quality

• For any earbuds, the most important factor is always the Sound quality.
• LP40 pro houses 13mm coils and it supports SBC & AAC audio codec
• In terms of Audio output, it gets reasonably loud. Sound leak is an issue due to its non-in ear design.
• But at max volume level, there is almost no audio cracks, distortion or weird sounds. Which is great for users who love to listen to their music at max levels.
• Music quality wise. Let’s start with the lows. Bass is mainly around mid-bass slams. For background listening, music at least gets a comfortable warmth from boosted lower-mids and its darker-than-average tonality.
• Moving to Vocals and instruments. Vocals are forward enough with some clarity. Instruments and strings are clear, sharp and separated well enough.
• Soundstage is decent but Don’t expect too much. It is obvious that Lenovo spent little time & effort on Audio tuning.
• Sound quality for videos, movies and games are respectable, with some rumbling bass but definitely no where near wireless earbuds I have tested which use better audio drivers
• No app support to customize EQ but you can use 3rd party apps to customize.
• Overall, even though the sound quality of LP40 Pro is not very refined but it is suitable for people who don’t require much.

Battery life

• Earbuds rated with 30mAh
  • It can last up to 5 hrs at 70%.
  • Right earbud tend to die slightly faster than left earbud
• Charging case rated with 250mAh
  • Recharge both earbuds up to 4 times. up to 30 hours total usage.
  • Able to charge the earbuds independently, up to 8 times.
  • Take than less 60mins to charge the earbuds from 0-100
  • Case takes around 1.5hrs to be fully charged via USB-C. Blinking red light to indicate re-charging.
  • 4 LED light will stay on when 100% charged
  • Overall, I would say the battery life is on-par with what the company claims.

Connectivity

• Uses Bluetooth 5.1 version.
• Initial BT pairing. pretty effortless on Android, iPhone, PC.
• No fixed master/slave. Able to use each earbud independently after pairing.
• Switches effortlessly between music, videos and phone calls / video app calls
• BT connection with laptop, PC, phones will cut off immediately after putting the earbuds back in the case
• LP40 Pro don’t have low latency mode. LP40 Pro also don’t have multi-point or multi-device feature

Controls

• Comes pre-installed with the following commands
  • Music
    • 1x tap: LEFT VOL - / RIGHT VOL+
    • 2x taps: Play/Pause
    • 3x taps L: Prev song
    • 3x taps R: Next song
  • Calls
    • No single clicks: Nothing
    • 2x taps: Answer/End call
    • Hold 2s: Reject call
  • Others
    • Hold 2s: Activate voice control/Gaming Mode
• No commands for Power off / On
• Touch area is very responsive.
• It takes a few tries to recognise and remember the location of the touch area.
• Sadly touch inputs cannot be customized.

App support

• LP40 Pro has no app support from Lenovo. Therefore you cannot customize your experience

Exercise, workout, gym, jogging

• IP54 Dust & Waterproof rating. Able to take some dust, dirt, water, sweat, light rain.
• Recommend to get 3rd party earhooks or earwings to better secure earbuds while exercising

Low Latency

• Company claim the LP40 Pro is able to reduce some sound delays due to the BT 5.1 tech
• There is no obvious sound delay for video watching via YT, Netflix, QIYI etc
• For gaming, the sound latency is pretty bad. But this is common for wireless earbuds which do not have a dedicated “low latency mode” or not optimized for gaming

Mic quality

• LP40 Pro has two mics to improve call quality. One mic to pick up your voice and 2nd mic to reduce background noise or ENC.
• Mic quality is useable indoors and quiet environment. Your voice is clear and forward.
• Once you're outdoor or in noisy places such as Coffee shops, cafes, busy roads, crowded places, things start to get complicated.
• The ENC feature is very strong but also directly affects the Mic quality. Your voice will sound choppy.
• Following segment is a series of mic test of the LP40 Pro

TL;DR

Final Verdict

• Are they worth it? Should you get the LP40 Pro or get something else? Imo, if you are not going to use it for phone calls and you don't care about App support, then I think the LP40 Pro is currently one of the best basic non in-ear tws for under 20 SGD.
• It has decent battery life, comprehensive touch commands, seamless pairing with different platforms, great for audio books, podcasts and general media content consumption, I will recommend this to anyone who wants a pair of basic entry-level tws.
• The LP40 Pro is also a great alternative to the Baseus Bowie E3 (another popular Non in-ear tws)
