I still cant use DDNS. But i successful using my wireless router as ip address. I heard if OFF router, the ip will change.

But the router IP address will change even my router on 24 hrs???
if not, then i will forget abt DDNS. :)

The whole point of using DDNS is that even if your public IP address change, your 'domain name' will not change. For example, you decide to use noname.dyndns.org as your DDNS name, then you just use http://noname.dyndns.org.

You might want to use the dyndns updater program instead of the one in your router.

Optical zoom IP cameras are more expensive. Dlink's DCS-6620G and DCS-5635 are cmeras with optical zoom. Can't seem to find the former nowadays. I costs about $600 that last I remember.

No. The controls is with your router. As long as you set it properly, it should be find. FYI, I am using Linksys, Dlink (various models), Edimax, TP-Link, LevelOne, H Series, F series, B series (still to set up), Trendnet and SMC.

Anyone know what happen to setting up ip camera?

Very long story:

When i back home, i try if my ip camera is it working which installed in my office for trial.

I can't link when using my home wirless modem. However my iphone 3G can, but if my iphone wifi to my modem, it can't.

To double confirm, i link my laptop to neighbour wireless network, both my laptop and iphone is working.

I also tried direct from modem connect using cable to laptop, the result is fail to watch my IP camera.

What happen to my home starhub? got blocked? my neighbour also starhub....

if u are at home using wifi or cabled , use the IP instead of the dns address.

Anyone has taken a look at the new DLINK's-932L day/night IR fixed IP camera? I think it's not available here yet. Hope that it arrives at the SITEX SHOW. You can watch its use on Youtube.

Its IR range is 5m and FOV is 45 deg. For most HDB unit it is adequate for room, balcony & kitchen use. Not too sure for large hall & long common corridor

Well...if IR light is inadequate then I suppose you can add external IR light sources.

Thinking of changing all my existing DLINK fixed cameras to this new model because cannot see inside the house when the sky outside turns dark especially when rain is imminent

:s8:

Yeah the reviews for it on amazon seem ok. The only thing is that one review says that when you try to view it through iphone, sounds has a lot of static.

If I had the money, might go for Panasonic C230A

but would probably go for Sharx 2700W

Any bros can recommend me a ip cam (prefer with pan & tilt), budget below $300, with IR vision, that can record directly to a basic NAS. I'm using Dlink dns-320, don't want to specially turn on pc just to record 24/7.

My friend is using a Trendnet cam with above feature (bought from singpost shop) that can record to the dns320, but singpost no longer selling. (maybe that's why their shares dropping *joking*)

Thanks a lot.

I don't know which model of Trendnet your friend is using, but the Trendnet IP-422WN is available locally. They also have a non-pan-and-tilt model. However, the IP-422WN cost over S$300.

Recently, I bought a S$149 B series, which is an OEM model from China. Functionally, it is equivalent to one of the Foscam model, and on an mobile phone app, I chose the Foscam model number.

I was very pleasantly surprised by what a S$149 package can offer. It has pan-and-tilt and IR capability, and its colour reproduction is okay (I think the DCS-5635 has one of the best, and the WVC-200 is very good in low light without losing colour, unlike some of the other IR models).

If you are not worried about lack of firmware update, then the B series is probably one of the cheapest pan-and-tilt model you can get with IR capability.
