just got a set of the VStarcam H6837WIP. there are so many settings in the super client, for extra fine tuning of video vs wireless performance, which is the most optimal setting? for phone as well as PC viewing.

Video size - 320 or 640?
Video quality - #?
Bit Rate - Constant or Variable?
Bit Rate - 256 or what other value to set?
FPS - 3/7/15/30?

Pls advise if anyone knows

I think its about wireless channel 12 & 13. Asus default wireless 2.4GHz at 12. And camera cannot find. Change the asus wireless channel away from those 2 and u will be ok. Not a problem, hardware limitation instead. Fyi, I'm on RT-N56U. :)

Default optimised for mobile app already. If u want, fps 30 for smoothness. Bitrate depends on ur bandwidth. Higher more smoother but slower response. Quality ard 6 will do, 3G can't handle. 320 size for phone

Looking for recommendations for wireless security camera to mount outside my house..recently got some bugger decided to steal my family's clothes and undergarments. It has gone to the extent of even stealing the whole bamboo. (Just a heads up, my bamboo sticks that are outside my house is legally placed and secured. Not hanging precariously)

So I've decided to place two cameras at two strategic positions such that the bugger will be caught when leaving the premise but wouldn't notice it when walking in the one way corridor.

Please do recommend a relatively clear video footage IP camera so that it can record to my PC. I have teras to support the size. Sound not that important.

Camera should also have the ability to adjust after mounting. And best if can monitor from my computer or even better from my android smartphone.

Looking forward to all you gurus for recommendations!

P.s. do I need a permit to put security cameras outside my HDB flat?

Yes. Can't remember either HDB or Town Council, but must be accompanied by police report to justify for the installation. Else is considered ilegal to setup. Correct me if I am wrong, I read tat somewhere a year ago on the newspaper

Just saw an email from MARIX. They are having a MEGA SALES tomorrow onwards on while stocks last basis to celebrate their new milestone of being the sole distributor for SG and MY.

So, those who are keen can go ahead and check out their product blogspot.

H6837WIP or T7838WIP

Totally noob with web cam and need to set one up for my newborn and new FDW.

Considering H6837WIP or T7838WIP but can anyone tell me the difference?

I understand that T7838WIP is capable of higher resolution which may result in video laggy when viewing of outside. Can I overcome that by setting lower resolution to be similar to H6937WIP?

Beside higher resolution, does T7838WIP comes with additional features (eg better software support etc) other features are similar to H6837WIP.

Thanks in advance!

For VStarcam T7838WIP would be better, it will be a bit not so smooth as compared to H6837WIP, but can adjust down the bitrate to overcome this. Default bitrate was set at 4Mbps, I would suggest to down it to 1Mbps. I did that and I can watch my streaming better on my iphone n android.

T7838WIP will be better in terms of its mobile APPs. Can record to iPhone during streaming. Something the H series can't.

H6837WIP would be good if your home internet cannot have that bandwidth and you need to mount. So, you should consider that when you purchase.

I am on M1 fibre 50mps so I think bandwidth is ok.
Sorry but I don't understand what you mean in regards to mounting. Care to elaborate?

My family is on android platform. U think they will add recording feature for android in the future?

Hi Peeps,I am using T7838WIP. Everything seems fine after the PNP. However when i uses my Iphone to view via 3G/4G network, there's a red wording on the bottom right. It says relay mode and there is a countdown timer. Any way to fix or everyone using has this? There is also a lag time on the image compare to wifi connection.

Relay mode means the APP is connected to your camera via a cloud server rather than direct, this is more of a routing thing from ISP end, not much we can do about it. The camera is capable of direct PnP connection, but quite rare nowsaday from what I noticed, but possible still.

Translation (Bug Fixes)

1. Event List if too long, camera cannot return correct result.
2. During rotation of the camera, speed adjustment cannot work correctly
3. FTP Upload timing if gap is too huge, the display is not correct
4. P2P cannot sync PC time
5. P2P did not get correct firmware edition
6. movement for 50Hz & 60Hz, control is not the same
7. When P2P retrieve camera info, bitrate and video setting is wrong
8. During movement of camera, did not trigger motion alarm
9. enhanced SD Card recording, resolve some issues with MicroSD Cards
10. WebUI display of MicroSD Card contents may not be accurate.

Also, if you refer to MARIX's blogspot, T Series have received a new feature upgrade on PnP Camera. It is now able to do 4 cameras LIVE View on the application.

MARIX's tech team told me that they are testing the new firmwares and will broadcast soon once QC pass.
