Samsung I think they will give free microsd cards as usual. Samsung does price control over its product distribution. Let's see wat else convergent is giving out

DIY home surveillance with IP camera?

Anyone done DIY home surveillance with IP camera before?

I am looking at just a 2 camera setup.

Able to cater power socket, RJ45 point and PoE switch if necessary.

Was wondering whether I should use IP camera or should I just get those surveillance kit with 2 cameras?

How do you all extend the power socket to the camera location?

Anyone got the vendor to do the installation before? Normally how much does that cost?

my case is, I extend main socket up to location where I want to mount camera. my colleagues just buy power extension cables n lay trunking all the way to position. 3m ext cable is $7, 1.5m ext cable is $5.5.

Anyone used Matrix installation service for IP Camera before?

Are they any good?

I asked for a quote and the quote for each camera installation cost more then the camera itself.....something like 150 ...they just run trunking for the cable and drill to install the bracket right? What else do they need to do per camera thats gonna cost so much?

I used them for my installation in my warehouse and several office, so far have not disappointed me.

Material cost and manpower cost comes in, $150 per point is ok, labour is never cheap especially the whole team is local people (Remember, Singaporean are expensive labours).

I think you should just buy the cameras from them, and DIY instead

To add to the list, in addtion to VStarCam and dLink, other brands that can be considered include Aztech, Sineoji, Edimax and Trendnet, as well as some of the less common brands like Panasonic, Prolink, Sony, TP-Link, Bosch, ACTi, Samsung and FlexWATCH. It's all a matter of price, features and support.

thanks, mark it :D

These 2 are wired PoE cameras and not wireless cameras. To use them, you have to run ethernet lines and install a PoE injector. Advantage is that you only need one network point per camera, and there is no need for separate power source.

If you require high(er) security, you may want to talk to firms that are in this line of business. Wireless IP cameras are not that secure e.g. if there is power outage, you won't be able to see anything.

Yep I know. Asking about IP camera in general. A PoE switch will do too right?

I am just looking for a basic home based security solution.

Wondering if anyone got any feedback/comments/reviews about the cameras or any other wired IP cameras with good quality image and stuff

Hi All,
I am interested in getting a IP camera in my office as there are some cases which I need to verify. Any stand alone IP camera that has the motion detect with SD card function that can store the footage locally. Most likely during the weekends. Due to data privacy policy and sensitivity of our network I am not allowed to connect to internet.

That why I need something localized that can captured footage.
Question:
How much can 8GB card hold if I want to record in 640x480 format?
Any recommendation? I am thinking of Aztech model 408 IP camera?
Those without PIR for motion detect function, what is the hit rate if human movement is to be detected?
TIA.

I cannot find any video for Samsung wireless set up.

Doubt it can really connected via wifi without direct access to router network.
