Was looking at this very first few posts that was made by Dr_ARCHer and managed to set up all my wireless cams via my asus router with the above guide. Kudos to OP!

Just need to clarify on step 3 of the above guide. What is this filter for and its purpose? Lastly, how do I set step 3 on a asus rt-ac87u?

Side note, my cams are all operational (without step 3) both via wifi or 3/4G.

Step 3 essentially limit WAN access to your router. For example, if you only view the IP cam from your office, you may want to make it a little bit more secure by ensuring that only the office IPs can access the images.

I can't remember if I have this on my Asus, but it was on my Dlink DIR-655 router. You don't really need Step (3).

Not really open to the idea of SD storage IP camera as anyone can take the SD storage.

Of course, thieves can steal the NAS too but definitely need a storage somewhere. Either cloud or local.

I finally got my cameras setup today finally.

I must give credit to MARIX and his team of installers who came on time and swiftly setup all our 6 cameras. But the appointment time was really very long! It took us 2 weeks wait for our slot to setup the cameras.

Hubby inspected their work and say that their workmanship is good.

For the cameras, both audio and image is clear in daytime, playback of recording is clear in audio as I can hear what my maid is talking in the kitchen with my mum.

I will provide more feedbacks on the camera after we test it out over the next few days. So far so good.

The rest of the functions works as you need to configure them with the right parameters.

If you are using gmail, make sure that you have these parameters correct.

smtp user : your gmail email address
smtp password : your gmail password
Sender : your gmail email address
smtp server : smtp.gmail.com
smtp port: 465
SSL

Receiver : your gmail email address

Make sure you turn on motion detection in your alarm settings.

Motion detection armed : ON
Motion Sensitivity : 1
Send email if triggered : ON
Alarm schedule : make sure you turn on the schedule "Mon to Sun".

The above parameters can be set on the phone. After you configured the above parameters on the phone, click " SAVE".

If this are configured correctly, upon motion, you will receive an email alert as shown below.

If you still encounter difficulty, I will personally come over and configure it for you.

I'm currently testing a new cheap and affordable IP camera from china. Fixed IP camera cheaper than Xiaoyi from xiaomi.

Its a 720P IP camera, capable of 128gb microsd (up to 24days recording).

Estimated cost ard SGD39 only including shipping. And yes. It supports ONVIF, wireless, night vision, communication over mobile apps. Remote playback with AUDIO over mobile.

I had marix to help me change to their extra wide angle lens. Having an effective view of estimated 128degree. And yes, this is not their product.

More reviews coming out soon. I can say its a major change in the industry that manufacturers are abandoning resellers and market direct to end users. Soon, local players can really eat dust liao.

I suggest you go for the Sineoji PT593V cam as it gives a wider coverage due to the ultra 125 degrees wide lens.

Yesterday Dean came to my house to install PT593V and PT497V. Dean did an excellent job in helping me to setup both cameras. Kudos to him! I am also impressed with the camera functions especially the night vision. Very clear and sharp! The best function I like most is the ability to preset up to 7 viewing angles. Very convenient and save time to pan and tilt!
