Just to check out if anyone tried topying at Sho Kii Junction at Causeway Point?

I would recommend Kips & Kwik located @ Junction 8, Bishan. Charges $25 for a pair of Vibram(not Topy) soles while $22 for heels.

The gent is well-mannered and selfless in sharing advices. He's particular busy during weekends so it's advisable to visit him during weekdays instead.

Well... last preference is a personal thing and I'm just stating that it's possible to get decent bespoke options at a lesser price in Japan.

Like the other maker, TYE (starts at 300K; http://www.tyeshoemaker.com), below are a couple pairs of the trial shoes he made for his customer.

If St Crispins still feels like the more worthy option then more power to you for being in their target market segment, I hope I'll be able to reach where you are now in the future

True about the lesser price, quality also commensurate accordingly. I still think it's too much of a hassle, you need to fly at least twice. I prefer them to have trunk shows locally.

JPY 300k is excluding shoe tree. Shoe tree is another JPY 28k. Price stated are excluding of tax.


So shoes + trees will cost around SGD 3,600 onwards.

I travel to Japan pretty often for leisure so I do find it a very viable option actually I think price will be inflated if it's gonna be a local trunk show :/

Well, that's still 3.2k short of 6.8k, of which already pays for 3x SQ tixs to Japan and the hotel fee/shopping expenses. Probably inconvenience of having to plan the trips is the off putting factor for most.

1 pair of bespoke ST. C already covers all the shoes I own if you want to calculate it that way

A premium is unavoidable. Question is how much premium to expect. Also whether the online store channel will still be available, although carmina has far too many other online retailers to be able to cut off internet sales to sg completely.

Just hoping they wont follow the SL SG pricing model, which would be a real shame.

I was previously informed by one of their personnel that it will be "slightly" higher than online prices. Of course, they did not clarify what they meant by "slightly", leaving it frustratingly ambiguous.

As of present, buying one pair from their website costs SGD500 thereabout (if you include GST and courier fees). Perhaps we will be looking at around SGD600 or higher for those sold in the SG store. Lol I will be more than happy if their promo (if any) is priced similarly as what we would have paid should we purchase directly from their online store.

Keenly interested to watch what strategy carmina will take. Will it end up as birkenstock or septieme largeur.

Personally i would be supportive of a modest markup (say within 15%?) in exchange for physical storefront n value add service like future resoling w/o shipping costs, for example.

It is not impossible for carmina to take the ruthless SL approach since it's an own brand branch and not a distributorship. But as mentioned earlier, probably harder for them to control due to pre-existing internet distributors.

Hi,
I am new to this forum. Have been reading up some stuff about shoes and tailored shirts and would need some advice here for shoes.

I am looking at shoes that can really give me comfort for my sole because I have Plantar fasciitis. In addition I am looking at some custom shoes that can also some height increase as I am a short guy.

I have been wearing shoes with mid sole technology which give me some height increase and yet gentle to my knees as compared to the usual elevated shoes. However, their designs are not too varied, thus I am looking at other brands now.

I maybe popping by Diamond Walker and Edetal to see if they can accommodate my request. Does anyone of u know whether they can custom make shoes to suit my needs or is there any other brands I should consider?

More often than not, plantar fasciitis is caused by calf tightness with resulting tension in the plantar fascia of the foot.

Here is a helpful stretch I recommend for plantar fasciitis.
This will help more than medication, or shoe modifications.
1) Find a flight of steps.
2) Step on it, with your toes and forefoot (the anterior 30-40% of your foot) on one step, the rest of your foot hanging freely off the step.
3) Support yourself with the bannister.
4) Allow the full weight of your body to rest downwards (in the same vertical plane as your heels) with minimal strength exerted by your supporting arm. This should cause your toes to point upwards and heels downwards, and feel a good stretch to the backs of your calves.
5) Hold this for 5 mins.
6) Repeat 3 to 4 times a day, forever.

Spigola represents himself locally, so there's no vendor or storage costs involved.

If you travel to Japan regularly, then it's a different story. Ultimately different strokes for different folks.

I don't see the need for so many shoes, hence I prefer to bespeak them. 3 comfortable pairs to rotate is more important than a wide variety of shoes.

However, I have to emphasize that bespeaking is not for everyone. I also think there is a misconception that companies earn more from bespoke, that might not be true. There are more costs involved that might trim their margins.

I'm more likely to believe that most brands earn more from mass produced models.
