Hi guys, relatively new to this so:

1) I saw the Cheaney winter sale post. How does Cheaney compare to Loakes / Herring / Barker etc.?

2) Also saw the Pediwear discount post. Do people here buy from Pediwear? I have been seeing more posts about Herringshoes and Robinsons Shoes. Is there a reason why Pediwear is worse (or better)?

Cheaney, like Loake and Barker, are shoes manufacturers. I would judge Cheaney a class above Loake/Barker.

Herring is a shoe shop. They have their in-house Herring brand shoes, but not made by them. Herring shoes are quite value for money, plus they regularly gives good discount for Herring shoes. My pair of Herring is made by Cheaney.

For Barker/Loake, buying from Robinson shoes free shipping always (if the before discount price is more than 150ukp). Pediwear only occasionally gives free shipping. Herring hardly gives free shipping, unless u are buying the higher range Herring shoes.

From personal experience, i find herring shoes typically slightly lower quality than the OEM own brand shoes for similar price point (which herring is typically slightly lower). To me it seems logical as i cannot imagine a product with another middleman layer (ie herring) can offer better value

If buying full retail price.

So I only buy herrings when herring gives good discount on their herrings.

Cheaney has a range of shoes from the affordable to the imperial range which looks fairly good. I have a pair made for Herring by Cheaney and i quite like it. It is a pebble grain long win on danite.

:s13::s13::s13:

And since Im in the Christmas Spirit. From the FIRST link;

3.1 CONDITION OF RETURNED SHOES

Unless we deem the shoes to be defective, we will only accept shoes which are returned in their unworn condition together with all accompanying accessories, including shoelaces and shoe bags and in its original shoebox. Shoes are deemed to be worn if their soles have been scratched and in this regard, we would recommend that you try out the shoes indoors on a carpeted surface first before taking the shoes out for a walk. Shoes returned in an otherwise condition will not be accepted for an exchange or a refund.

Hope that's sufficient for you Failureloser2012. If unsure just call them regardless

Cheers Bro, ever helpful as always :)

Thanks! The Pediwear winter sale on now has free shipping for 150UKP and above. Looks like a good deal to me, Loake Churchill at 15% off.

But I think I shall follow your advice and wait to see if Robinson's will have a winter sale too.

Robinson's sale is almost monthly (if you are looking at Loake range), typically 15-20% off (all models), 25% for flash deal (limited/single models).

You just need to either wait for annoucement or just add the Loake model to your cart, and check daily. Sometimes is silent 20% sale for all Loake model (no email notifications).

Bought 2 pairs of Loake 1880 at Robinsons in 3 months...

Thanks! Shall wait longer then.

One thing though - Robinsons doesn't stock Saphir but Pediwear does. Everyone here just uses Collonil cream? I thought Saphir is recognised as better.

To be honest unless you are hardcore into shoecare I don't think it really matters.

Sent from the exploded Death Star using GAGT

Yeah I understand that, but Saphir Pommadier on Pediwear is cheaper than Collonil 1909 on Robinsons. So if Saphir is better, must as well get it.

I just buy at Tangs for Saphir MDO, Collonil only when I need to fill to get 150 UKP on Robinsons.

But wow pedicare selling Saphir MDO series really much cheaper than locally now that you say it, didn't realized it until now.

But like darthsid has said, I think both brands are equally good.
Though I prefer Collonil cream, and Saphir MDO wax though.
Saphir cream always dries up my application brush damn fast, and kinda troublesome to wash it after application. Whereas I don't even need to wash the brush using the Collonil cream.

You might want to confirm whether free international shipping or UK only. At the Churchill page, it states free UK shipping.

Yup confirmed there's free international shipping, no delivery charges added at checkout page :D

I'm just going to wait maybe for after Boxing Day, and if Robinsons Shoes doesn't have discount, I'll get from Pediwear. My black cheap Oxfords already falling apart!

Apply with your bare fingers. Or with a cloth.

Just wondering, can you apply Collonil 1909 neutral cream for conditioning, and then apply the Saphir MDO coloured cream?

Google says that the Collonil 1909 neutral cream can be used as an alternative to the Saphir Renovateur, before applying the MDO cream/wax. But does anyone here use a routine like this?

(I don't really like shine, so I rather have the Saphir MDO cream than wax)
