Ed's discount only applies for online and their store does not stock the old collections for you to try out their sizing. Buying their shoes online is risky as their old lasts are a tad unpredictable.

Atelier would be a better choice in this case if you're only interested in buying at a local store. Nothing wrong with Pedro and Aldo if your bf likes the design. At the end of the day, it's just shoes.... No point buying a pair of shoes that he doesn't wear.
Ah I didn't know that.

If I were the bf and my gf bought me gyw shoes.. That'll be the ultimate present, which can be kept for ages to come (with proper care)!

I saw people giving good reviews of Ed Et Al, Pedro, Aldo. Are these brands the best for my budget?

Curious as to where you saw that. Probably not in this thread? With regards to your budget, those brands in bold are prettyyyyy bad really.

If going for glued together footwear perhaps the better option would be Archules

With your requirements, the best bang for your budget would be LLYR with their pairs sitting at just below 300 ($295). Simple oxfords will be easy to find at most places since its a staple pair.

They are goodyear welted which is a stitched construction much superior to slapping a footwear together with glue.

Will suggest LLYR as well. They are in Suntec City. Christmas sale till 31 Dec. Free shoe trees.

Alright thank you for your help:) I will go in LLYR to see what they have.

And for Ed Et Al, If we try his size on the new collection in their shop, it should be the same on the old one online no?

Thanks

this patch happened when you added wax, right?

Same thing happened to me, build-up of too much wax and/or cream. remove the excess and you'll be fine

If its sticky or rough then its likely that there's too of something that you've added (water, cream, wax etc). Let it dry out for a day, don't be too kancheong to do something about it. Then brush off that area and go slow.

Thanks for the insights guys, think will give it a try on Sunday.
Maybe just too kanchoing to try to solve the issue.

So I didn't have to wait 3-4 weeks for my strands that were supposely backordered! What a pleasant surprise, coming home to them last night.

Unfortunately, UK 8.5 is too big for me. Just trying my luck to see if anyone might have ordered UK 8 strands in burgundy and found them too small. Could do a swap locally instead of sending em back

U've got PM!

Robinsonsshoes got sale now!! Looks like its about 20% off for Loakes, other brands have discount too :D

Thanks to jonleelk and Shiro for encouraging me to wait heh.

Now struggling to decide whether I should pay 161GBP for my Loakes + Collonil (Robinsonsshoes) or 170GBP for the same Loakes + Saphir (Pediwear). Wonder if the 9GBP more for Saphir is worth it?

Is there anything else that differentiates Robinsonsshoes from Pediwear? I know Robinsons Shoes has like loyalty points - do any of them give free stuff?

I suggest you call the shop and enquire.

I have tried their old collections at the shop itself recently, provided they still have your sizes. and the discount is the same as online.

Alright thank you for your help:) I will go in LLYR to see what they have.

New collection completely different last ( aka shape). EEA is at millennium walk, while LLYR is just opposite at Suntec City. U can cover both places in the same day.

Suggest u try LLYR first, then go to EEA. If EEA old collection has your size, their 30% discount might be good. Else just walk back to LLYR and get free shoe tree.

IIRC his new (6th) collection is on a completely new different set of lasts so YMMV

and with regards to his old collection, his physical store dosnt really stock much sizes. But no harm just dropping in to try

Yeah, just get the Collonil cream/wax at Robinsons.
Can always get Saphir MDO range locally.

TBH, Collonil cream smells great LOL!

I think the shoe leather is spoiled?
Did an initial session of cream + wax, but comes to mirror shine it can't be done on the left shoe, whereas the right one is no problem.

Gah, think will need to spend quite abit for the return shipment.

Stange. But like others mentioned, use Saphir Renovateur or other similar products to clean off the initial layers, leave it to dry (at least 30min) then reapply cream and wax (thin layers). If all fails SOS our Shoe shine uncle

Hello,

I would like to buy dress shoes for my boyfriend with a budget of 100 to 300 SGD. He wants something classic, Oxford Shoe black or antique brown.

I heard that a lot of famous clothes brands offer really poor shoes quality so I would like to have your opinion on which brand/shop I could find a good quality price ratio. As I'm planning to buy with him, I don't want to buy online.

I tried to look for good brands and I saw people giving good reviews of Ed Et Al, Pedro, Aldo. Are these brands the best for my budget?

Thank you

Other than Ed Et Al and LLYR, if your boyfriend don't mind the wait you can do custom shoes at http://www.custommade.com.sg/ I don't think the quality and finishing will be as good as Ed Et Al and LLYR and it is Blake stitched (not as good as Goodyear welt). But also made in Vietnam like the 2 local brands.

And remember to get $1 (or whatever amount) from him before giving him the shoes ;)

Probably wait till tonight see can rectify or not.

If not I'm going to send back (once they acknowledged it's a faulty item), and they will pay for the return shipping also.
