Just wondering, can you apply Collonil 1909 neutral cream for conditioning, and then apply the Saphir MDO coloured cream?

Google says that the Collonil 1909 neutral cream can be used as an alternative to the Saphir Renovateur, before applying the MDO cream/wax. But does anyone here use a routine like this?

(I don't really like shine, so I rather have the Saphir MDO cream than wax)
I think if you're not too fussed and just need something keep your leather in good shape neutral shoe cream is good enough. Coloured shoe cream only when you need to add colour ie. Minor scuffs or scratches.

The whole pt of shoe cream is to nourish leather with the added benefit of a slight shine as part of a basic shoe care regime. Neutral shoe cream does this. Wax polish isn't all that essential IMO.

Yup confirmed there's free international shipping, no delivery charges added at checkout page :D

I'm just going to wait maybe for after Boxing Day, and if Robinsons Shoes doesn't have discount, I'll get from Pediwear. My black cheap Oxfords already falling apart!

That's good.

Yup thanks for advice! I'm planning to use the coloured creams mainly for scratches etc

Just took photos of my Loake Cannon, though this time round not quite pleased of the handling of the shoes compared to the time I purchased the Strand from them. Can see a few lines/scuffs on the shoe.

But oh well, it's free shipping and at discounted price can't really complain.

Very nice pictures! If you didn't say so I would've thought they came from their catalogue.

Personally I feel that minor scuffs on calf leather shoes are not a big deal? Rough handling at the factory might contribute to it as well. Ultimately it's a small issue which can be rectified with brushing from a horse hair brush and also shoe cream, which should already be part of your regular shoe care regime

So I didn't have to wait 3-4 weeks for my strands that were supposely backordered! What a pleasant surprise, coming home to them last night.

Unfortunately, UK 8.5 is too big for me. Just trying my luck to see if anyone might have ordered UK 8 strands in burgundy and found them too small. Could do a swap locally instead of sending em back

Yeah no big deal for me, just a bit disappointed in a sense for their handling compared to my first pair of Loake 1880 from them haha!

Thanks for the compliments, learning how to take shoe photos with reference from Dandyshoecare blog. :s13:

I think the shoe leather is spoiled?
Did an initial session of cream + wax, but comes to mirror shine it can't be done on the left shoe, whereas the right one is no problem.

Gah, think will need to spend quite abit for the return shipment.

Looks like you didn't allow sufficient time to dry or used too much of something. Hard to tell what the surface is like based on the pic. Let it sit dry for a day, brush it up and the apply a couple light layers of wax, brush off and try polishing again.

Hmm but been polishing my previous pair the same way for months. No such thing happen before, so really feel orz this time round.

I mean when I received the shoe, I saw signs of scuff lines and even the leather sole has quite a bit of scratches, when I didn't even worn it yet. I'm ok with it, since it's minor can be brush away.

But this, the patch feels dry and sticky and made obvious after a mirror shine attempt.

this patch happened when you added wax, right?

Same thing happened to me, build-up of too much wax and/or cream. remove the excess and you'll be fine

apply a thin layer of shoe cream and leave it for 10mins. then buff that area with a soft brush. polish with wax and water and it should go away.

Hello,

I would like to buy dress shoes for my boyfriend with a budget of 100 to 300 SGD. He wants something classic, Oxford Shoe black or antique brown.

I heard that a lot of famous clothes brands offer really poor shoes quality so I would like to have your opinion on which brand/shop I could find a good quality price ratio. As I'm planning to buy with him, I don't want to buy online.

I tried to look for good brands and I saw people giving good reviews of Ed Et Al, Pedro, Aldo. Are these brands the best for my budget?

Thank you

Ed Et Al from your list they currently have a discount for their shoes. If not Atelier Llyr.

If its sticky or rough then its likely that there's too of something that you've added (water, cream, wax etc). Let it dry out for a day, don't be too kancheong to do something about it. Then brush off that area and go slow.

Ed's discount only applies for online and their store does not stock the old collections for you to try out their sizing. Buying their shoes online is risky as their old lasts are a tad unpredictable.

Atelier would be a better choice in this case if you're only interested in buying at a local store. Nothing wrong with Pedro and Aldo if your bf likes the design. At the end of the day, it's just shoes.... No point buying a pair of shoes that he doesn't wear.
