Nothing much to see from a pair of wet shoes. Anyway I inadvertently stretched the leather and expanded the shoes by stuffing it too tightly with newspaper, now the shoes feel quite loose.

Advice for others in future, be aware about stuffing your wet leather shoes to tightly with newspaper (or whatever drying agent you choose) causing the shoe to expands. Unless of course you’re trying to expands the shoes.

Did it go out of shape? Or still looks good? Don't forget to moisturize the shoe I suppose.

Hi all, need some advice. Last night, as I was polishing my shoes, I noticed a small gouge at the side (left). Basically, the surface of the leather was punctured but it didn't go all the way thru. The size is about head of a small screw. The shoes (LLYR) are new and I believe this occurred at the airports (KLIA/CGK) last week as I was doing a few regional trips.

Is it possible to repair or cover it up?

Got bad experience in grip with leather soles. Please correct me if I sounds 'noob'

Is ed et al shoes and loafers recommended?

Personally I think it is a good starting point at a modest budget (which still means S$300ish) if you are new to GYW dress shoes. Probably one of the greatest advantage over many more illustrious (and more expensive) brands is that you get the opportunity to touch, feel and try for size before committing to a purchase.

Recent comments (including one post just a few before yours on this thread) seem to suggest a long wait..

Though to note, a couple of months ago or so, the founder/owner Edwin wrote a somewhat heartfelt note acknowledging those criticisms and pledging to improve things..

My take is that it doesn't kill to pay them a visit and decide for yourself. Good luck!

hk! just trying to find out if there’s any new interesting stores that stock different brands from the ones I listed

And this is an SG-based forum.. duh..

I reckon you planning to browse, try size etc only? Cos' prices for major brands at retail stores there will be pretty inflated compared to online prices (as with Singapore).

I remember reading of local HK custom maker.. But may be located off the typical CBD/shopping belt. Probably need to google, if you are interested.

Have a good trip!

Rubber soles are better for Singapore weather.

You can bring your leather sole shoes to a cobbler to add a rubber topy too.

Are there disadvantages with rubber outsole?

Agree with darknight55.. rubber outsole is actually more suitable for sg weather cos of the frequent rain.. but leather outsole is definitely more atas..
The brand i mentioned, so far so good.. but they are still quite new so its not the super high end brand.. (leather outsole..guess u are looking for shoes @least $300 up?)
