I think they are good until you have looked at the GYW and better but I will not think Geox is exactly entry level

Wiz,
Thank you for the kind words. To be quite honest, I'm happiest when I'm reading / talking / sharing about shoes. Especially within a positive environment. Sometimes, it's just too difficult to engage in any form of proper discussion on SF. But if you've found any of my posts helpful, then I'm really glad.

Spence,
Yes, I have, I have an MTO pending with him. But he's got a backlog and a sh**load of work to clear, so I told him to chuck my order to the back. The business comes first after all.
MTOs are 2200. Trees included. Cheaper than Deco line. And much, much, better.

How do you think they compare to a Japanese MTO? Say Hiro Yanagimachi whose MTO start from 170k yen?

30k less if you opt for a machine sewn outsole.

I posted this recently on SF, it mainly discusses leather quality and the factors that affect it. But I also included a part about how much more one should reasonably expect to pay for "premium materials" as advertised by so many makers.

Thought you guys might find it useful.

That post was enlightening and the depth of details was overwhelming, had to read it 3x to comprehend and appreciate the art of shoemaking. Love my shoes more now. Thanks a lot for taking your time to write his down.

Simply too good. Had to create an account to add to that discussion haha

Enjoyed your comments as well. Well written stuff are rare these days. Will assume you are in “sales” hence that perspective. Interesting what people do for a living will “dictate” how they look at things.

I've had bad experience with Geox shoes and if you do a quick search online, you will see many comments of the Geox soles coming off easily. A couple of years back I bought a pair of Geox shoes from the now extinct premium line with leather soles, which cost more than your Carlos Santos and Loakes etc at retail price. The soles started to split within 6 months on wear. The heel plate was also "fake" in the sense that it was a piece of plastic designed to look like wood. In terms of "breathing" soles, I don't think it's very noticeable. Thinner socks would do the trick.

After that experience with even such a "premium" brand, I started to learn more about shoe construction which led to my discovery of GYW, other welted constructions and blake stitch. This led me to learn more about care and maintenance of shoes and now I offer maintenance and repair services such as Topy and heel replacement etc. So in a crooked sense, buying a pair of Geox was beneficial but I wouldn't recommend them, especially not at retail price.

In case anyone is thinking of trying - Robinsons at Orchard doesn't have any models in capital last stocked. Instead there are a number of river lasted shoes.

Thinking of getting a 3 eyelet chukka - what do you guys think of one in dark burgundy?

Option 1) MTO with Indonesia Maker Winson (about 310 SGD thereabout)

Leather and sizing might be potential issues, but you get handwelted + choice of sole

Option 2) Should i top up and go for Yanko (don't think SB carries Yanko Chukkas), CS and the like?

Option 3) anyone has suggestions?

Thanks.
