If it is Diamond Walker, then it will very likely be the first method as their shoes are cemented (glued) soles and not the better GYW (goodyear welted construction).
If you have no idea on the difference of GYW versus cemented shoes, I would advise you do some serious reading online. The quality and durability is miles apart.
Other than GYW, there is also other constructions blake, rapid blake and Norwegian welt etc.

DW don't do GYW shoes... they do the better hand-sewn welted method since day 1 when I first saw them at MBS. It costs more I remember because it's done by craftsman hand not machine.

I went for cemented for my first pair to try... so far so good... very happy with Diamond Walkers. I made my second one at their 2nd store at Orchard gateway 4th floor.

Been following this thread for quite some time, lots of information

I am currently in UK for work. What will be a good brand to look at that is normally not avaliable or too expensive in Singapore for working shoes? Budget is around 300-500.

Visit jermyn street. Loake and barker fit your budget. With luck and stretching your budget to 600 (and u make the effort to claim VAT refund), u can get church or even crockett and jones seconds or sale stuff.

On the point of VAT, u could be better off buying fr sg online and get full VAT refund vs partial if u claim at the airport. The difference could more than offset shipping charges.

Good luck and happy shopping!

Edit: assume u mean london. If u have time can visit bicester or northampton

LOL "better hand-sewn" method! Thanks for the ******* good laugh this afternoon when the market's abit slow

Have you even seen their "handwelt" videos? Crap ass quality insole and welt, sometimes even synthetic sports-shoe kind of midsole. No feather cut out nor prepared at all. The cordwainer simply ploughs his fat ass needle though the midsole and welt with stitches per inch as wide and fat as Nicky Minaj's ass.

Handwelting for the sake of handwelting, what a god damm monstrosity. Pls go read and know how folks like Vass, Lobb or St Crispins construct their handwelt. Real work, not a child's play, almost Insulting really.

And yes, I would rather wear a stupid GYW shoe with its gunky cork paste filler and glued gemming than DW's "esteemed handwelt".

Are the 3 nails on the heel rubber necessary?

Don't see an issue there. Older Florsheim has more than 40 nails installed in the heel... Could be aesthetics or just wanna make sure that heel stays intact.

Hey all. Anyone follows shoesnob blog's instructions and adds a final layer of neutral wax when they finish polishing their shoes?

I did that for mine for the first time and tbh, I dun see any significant difference from the normal finish! Was wondering what this layer of neutral is supposed to achieve then.

Thanks for the info or I should say warning. Personally I have not seen their handwelt shoes or their video.
There are really a lot of better options than the overpriced DW shoes especially with the quality they produce.
My friend had a horrible experience with them. Waited months for the shoe and when it arrived the shoes were so much bigger. Not sure how they screw up the measurements. But all in all the shoes were sent back to Korea twice. After he got them he was really pissed with all the screw ups and waiting and didn't even bother to wear them at all.

I see... I've done multiple heel replacements but have not seen any which nails the rubber portions so I'm curious if it was necessary.

Ballgag does

It adds depth to the shoes

This is by uncle song? How long it takes him to do ah? Price?
I need to resole my edetal de heels, i email them and they say will take 2-3weeks sia...
But its my regular beaters for work, so i cannot really afford 2-3 weeks without them lor... :(

Replace heel blocks any cobbler can do in a day. If you're at raffles place can try solemann
