These Monk Strap Dress Shoes look amazing.

Do remember that the color of the dress shoes you choose to buy affects your outfit. Having a black dress shoe is always safe. But do take note that a black dress shoe emphasizes the contrast between the shoes and the color of your pants/chinos. In this case, remember to try and keep the upper half darker, as this will help to keep the outfit at least tonally similar. A tip to reduce this stark contrast, is to try cuffing your chinos to expose your ankle this spring/summer. This gives a break in the natural line down your leg and means that the colors don’t contrast as much as when they are touching.

For tan/brown shoes, the saying 'black and brown makes a frown’ is the advice often heard. This applies to formal settings. In casual sense, tan shoes will much better compliment a wider variety of colors than black shoes – making them much more versatile.

Fwiw, I usually just wipe or brush the shoes without using any products until after a few wears. Thereafter, apply creme or polish n shine. I use reno the next round to remove the 1st time application of creme/polish and nourish,before repolish.

Not sure if this is correct or not.

How often do you use reno? Like twice a year?

It is in UK Size. Shipping is ard 32.50 euros. Not many UK8-10 sizes left .

It's not that bad as it's being villainised on the igents forums, imho. I personally prefer calf as i can decide the level of shine i wish to polish and they probably take to creases abit better. But i wont reject binder at a good bargain.

I have a pair of corrected grain leather shoes with heavy polish added to cover the blemishes as well, and in typical idiocy I've gone and rubbed my heels on the stem of my chair, resulting in the polish, and actually the staining on the leather coming off.

Anyone knows if it's possible to completely strip the polish? Willing to try out a bit of a project with this pair. heh.

Finally decided to get a pair of shoes from Herring's website. Nothing fancy, just a basic cap-toe from Barker.

I have a pair of corrected grain leather shoes with heavy polish added to cover the blemishes as well, and in typical idiocy I've gone and rubbed my heels on the stem of my chair, resulting in the polish, and actually the staining on the leather coming off.

Anyone knows if it's possible to completely strip the polish? Willing to try out a bit of a project with this pair. heh.

You can try rubbing with alcohol, eg those nail polish remover fluids that ladies use. My only word of caution is for corrected grain, i m not sure if its possible to 're-apply' new polish easily

You can use saddle soap to strip off all the polishes built up.

Try heel inserts? If slippage is at the ankles then may not be able to resolve.

Ahh.. That's a classic example of why loafers are so tricky to buy online. There are two possibilities here; stand up with your loafers on and try to lift the ball of one foot up, does the shoe still stay snug on your foot, or does it slip off the heel and come off ? ? If it's the former, then your loafers have to be broken in and the slippage should lessen with time. If it's the latter, then you've got the wrong size and should read on..

Generally, try to go down half a size from your lace-ups for loafers. The first priority should be getting a good snug fit at your heels before you determine anything else. Heel slippage gets worse as the shoe breaks in and stretches; I have some pairs that went from "manageable" to completely unwearable after a few weeks. If you find that you have to size down too much(so much that it crushes your toes), then the shoe last is simply not for you.

Loafer sizes are a hit-or-miss thing unfortunately, I have maybe 6 pairs but I only own one that fits me well. Coincidentally, the first time I got my fingers(or toes) burnt buying shoes online was with Alden tassel loafers

Heel grips and insoles help a little bit, but your best option would be to explore other sizes or brands/lasts.
