Hmm, i dont think it requires sizing up. Not sure how snug is snug for u on the capital last. If u dont experience any toe pinching w capital last, perhaps u can take the same size in rain.

Anyway KS is carrying carmina, go try sizes for yourself will be the best option.

No toe pinching, but don't think the shoe can go any narrower.

Yeah maybe I'll do as you suggest and make a trip to KS. Been hesitant to do that. Paiseh to go just for sake of sizing lol.

For Saphir reno/cream/wax poishes, you can visit AFPOS. They had a 20% discount code (AFPOS20) last year and hopefully that is still applicable this year too. For shoe trees, do contact Bro Alvin Quah.

I thought previously we've confirmed the code is only for purchase of shoes?? Unless you bought the accessories with a pair of shoes.

You are quite right. Inca is gorgeous imo, if you're Ok with almond toe

Thanks for the input. Yes I'm ok with the looks of the Inca, based on what I see online. In fact, considering the oxford in museum calf in the skoab website. Just wondering whether the "raised" leather stitch lines detract from the overall sleekness of the shoe.

Trying out my meermins.

The New Rey last fits me quite alright. Compared to the Carmina Simpson last, I get less heel slip from the New Rey.

The AFPOS discount code was applicable for shoe accessories as well. I just purchased a few Saphir cream and wax polishes last month. It's the FREE shipping that was NOT included for accessories, but only applicable for shoes only. Nonetheless, the discount code cannot work this year. Hope that clarifies.

But the instep seems too low for you. This is a problem i have with most shoes as well.

It probably is... but compared to the Carmina rain last, this is already better. Can't have everything they way you want it.

From the looks of it, I probably have high instep to begin with.

which brands/lasts work for you since you also have high instep? I would like to try them out as well.

Thanks.

Hmm you mean rain last has a lower instep than new rey last? Sounds strange to me...

Was told rain is about the more generous dress shoe last (country shoes lasts aside) carmina offers in terms of width and instep whilst new rey is notoriously sleek even by meermin's own admission.

I thought the Meermin New Rey and Park lasts are sleeker than their other lasts too.

To side-step the high instep challenge I have, I have more brogues which have open lacing instead of closed lacing (and oxfords). The only pair of double monks I have, I made it with Zee's Hong Kong.

According to Ed Et Al, only custom lasts can help with high insteps. MTO cannot 'compensate' for my higher insteps as well.

I have learnt to accept that i cannot wear shoes with closed lacing 'perfectly'. And I think that is okay too.

Well, it might be just be me but when I tried the rain last (same size as the meermin), it felt like the instep was lower compared to the meermin for some reason. Somehow it felt tighter compared to the new rey.

I don't have much experience with these lasts so these are just my observations from wearing them once for comparison.

The rain last was definitely more generous on the width, that I would agree.

Derby shoes are more suitable for high in steps.

I have that pair. I would not describe inca as a sleek looking last, rather it is very balanced.
A fairly generous toebox that is very comfortable, snug waist, slightly narrower heel. It fits me very nicely.
And no, the raised seams do not take away anything from the shoe. One of my favorite pairs of carminas.

Actually I find this amount of spacing between the lacing to be quite acceptable. Given that the cork bed will sink after a number of wears. But I guess all this also depends on how the individual likes to wear his oxfords.
