my meermin monks were flawless, at least to the naked eye.

herrings on the other end, disappoints on diff pairs, excellent customer service tho.

I have been lucky so far with both Herring and Meermin.

I have 3 pairs of shoes, 2 belts and 1 bag from Herring. All of them are fine although they shipped the wrong bag to me. Excellent customer service though.

Oh.. I was under the impression they could as darth said that. Other than Ed, anywhere else you can recommend as Ed is a bit ex at $180.

his post is meant for another person who is asking for opinion which shoe to get

meermin does resoling too at USD75 (minus shipping cost).

Actually Ed's price at $180 is fairly reasonable IMHO.

Cost of 2-way registered mail to/from your UK/Eur shoemaker will set you back more than $100 already and I am pretty sure the cost of re-soling by other brands will only be upwards of Meermin and Loake prices, which are considered entry level GY welt brands. In other words, resoling by your original UK/Eur shoemaker is almost certainly going to cost more than Ed. Of course at that higher price, you are getting the shoes re-soled on the original last which ought to make a (positive) difference.

The (high imho) cost of re-soling is one reason why I choose to be a 'pithy' (thanks urban for clarification on that term) and topy my shoes. :s13:

same... since my meermin only cost me ard less then $250... dun really make sense for me to resole... might as well get a new pair :D

since topy can extend the shoe life maybe by 1-2 or even more... why not

Hi guys, i just bought a new pair of leather shoes. Any basic care tips i should take note of? Also, do I need to add an additional layer for my sole?

What shoes did you buy first? The quality and type of construction will go a long way in determining the level of products and care you should be lavishing on your shoe.

But for basics just kiwi and brush now and then. Just like in the army :s12:
