Yea, but those they sell nowadays are very thick right? Tapered towards the toes?

That's the whole point!

Thick that's why they are comfy.

I usually buy shoes with removable insoldes nowdays because they don't last more than a year.

Edit: there are some places that do sell insoles that are orthopaedic in function. I remember I got my pair at Novena Medical Suites, one of the shops. Damn comfortable as well.

Those medical insole are super expensive and super thick right?! I remember being quoted 300 bucks before!

Anyway, I only need the insoles to fill up shoe space la. Not so much for comfort. The shoes are comfortable enough.

Would you buy shell seconds for 350 bucks? Haha seriously thinking about it.

Depends on the condition and age of the shoe. Is it horween shell as well? On top of that, cordovan shoes are quite heavy and requires different sort of maintenance. Might have to think twice.

For your question earlier, I think it's safe to say Oxford shoes have the lowest in step. Last to last differs from company to company.

Alden tassel loafers. I have no idea if they are really seconds or just old stock. they are new.

Btw, I just went to Bata and saw the Ambassador range. Looks like pretty darn good entry-level shoes at $99!

My bata shoes are doing very well for the $80 i spent on them. Their ambassador range have been quite good value for money and i posted about them sometime back but was met with skepticism. Its true some of their designs are too hideous. Just pick the conservative design.

I just hope those are blake stitched and not glued. Pretty sure not welted.

The one I posted was the only one I with a hardened toe cap. Hopefully that means the toe cap can be shined without one day creasing like a ****.

Thanks! :) May I know of those you own, which lasts have a high instep and which are low to normal instep?

Oh mine, not even sure how to begin. I have flat feet so what's high/low/normal to me may not be the case to you. In general, and please take these with a huge grain of salt, Italian brands suit me better, Santoni, Sutor, Bemer to name a few (but I don't want to generalise). English brands (Lobb, EG, Grenson Masterpiece) fit worse, most requiring tongue pads, especially those narrow-lasted. One more thing, Italian shoes are narrower at the ankle, whereas English (and American) seems to be rather loose on the ankles, which contribute to the overall fit. YMMV.

Ah I see, thanks for sharing! :)

So you are using tongue pads for your Vass? Where do you get your tongue pads?

Hmm.. Yup, your post has been duly noted. For my next pair of shoes, if DW turns out to be a real flop i may just head down to Bata for a $80 ambassador.

By the way, any Skagen watch model to recommend since i was thinking of getting one to match my profile with my Luxury spec & DW shoe.

Not 3 digits. Less than 100 the last pair I bought.

Oh you went bespoke with diamond walker? For less than 100, I wouldn't hesitate if I see any decently made pair.

For skagen, please note that the mesh strap has to tried in person first, in case you are buying online. Those for made for bigger sized people, so it may not wrap around your wrist nicely if you are a smaller sized 1.7+m guy like me.
