The front of my topied soles are wearing out. GG...

I read from this thread that someone didn't manage to find any cobbler who does toe taps..

Anyone luckier?

Master Fix @ Orchard ION can do good skimming off the top layer of the sole (same thickness of the rubber) to add the piece and have it lay flat as the sole. I will try to ask if they can do toe taps as well since I work in town.

I have plans to do something like this (rubber sole + toe taps combo).

It's not a defect, just slightly shoddy workmanship. Plenty of examples like the above on the web.

2) Re-sole will fix the welt + stitch imperfection?

anything with a waterproof sole and a full grain leather upper really. leather soles arent quite practical in singapores wet weather, and corrected grain and the like just wont age well.

i dont know much about italian shoemakers but i could suggest a.testoni? ive seen an outlet in taipei, not too sure about their availability here. avoid their testoni basic line.

but first, perhaps you could tell us more about what kind of shoe youre looking for?

budget?

style? (open/closed lacing, blucher/balmoral, broguing/medallion/captoe etc)

does it have to be strictly italian? or just "italian" in styling? limiting your search to italian shoemakers eliminates many other options available. many shoemakers have various lasts that affect the styling/shape of the shoe

these are some things you might want to consider to further streamline your search.

Though this is not directed at me...
1) I highly doubt it. Perfection in stitching is simply aesthetics IMHO. If the welt is faulty, you will probably see welt separation pretty soon anyway (which is pretty darn rare AFAIK).
2) Depends who resoles the shoes for you, I guess. Send back to the same guy = get the same result (assuming there is no defect in the first place).

Since you said you want inexpensive shoes, I am assuming below $200. I suggest Robinsons at Raffles City. IIRC, there are a bunch of pointy blake stitched shoes on the left side of the men's shoe display.

Ok. Say Italian brands like Bremer and Botoni, they are almost double the price of EG. European shoes is a very broad section of the market.

Just saying that EG isnt that expensive relatively.

Hang on if it's a new pair why bother repairing it? To me, it's cosmetic.

But if that's the result after a sole repair, then maybe you could speak to your craftsman.

Sounds like you may have bought the wrong size.

One of my MTO arrive today. Can't say I am not excited....

Thankfully the sizing I have chosen turns out well which fits perfectly on my feet. Thanks to days of extensive research hehe. It feels..., entirely different from the rest of the RTW i have owned, as if the shoe is bespoke for me.

All area of the shoe feel just nice, not too loose, not too tight. Snug is not the word... With the infamous U last being notorious for clamping the toe area, my toes even has wiggling space. Vs olfe last, U last has a higher instep which rest on my feet perfectly... Maybe this is the first time I have gotten such a high range of shoe that I feel this way.

Conclusion :: **** I reckon that this is not the only pair
