Try heel inserts? If slippage is at the ankles then may not be able to resolve.

Ahh.. That's a classic example of why loafers are so tricky to buy online. There are two possibilities here; stand up with your loafers on and try to lift the ball of one foot up, does the shoe still stay snug on your foot, or does it slip off the heel and come off ? ? If it's the former, then your loafers have to be broken in and the slippage should lessen with time. If it's the latter, then you've got the wrong size and should read on..

Generally, try to go down half a size from your lace-ups for loafers. The first priority should be getting a good snug fit at your heels before you determine anything else. Heel slippage gets worse as the shoe breaks in and stretches; I have some pairs that went from "manageable" to completely unwearable after a few weeks. If you find that you have to size down too much(so much that it crushes your toes), then the shoe last is simply not for you.

Loafer sizes are a hit-or-miss thing unfortunately, I have maybe 6 pairs but I only own one that fits me well. Coincidentally, the first time I got my fingers(or toes) burnt buying shoes online was with Alden tassel loafers ;)

Heel grips and insoles help a little bit, but your best option would be to explore other sizes or brands/lasts.

I would try a little longer tmr. Can y'all show me pics and brand of heel inserts/grips that you recommend? I have tried insoles but just tightens the front foot yet not help the heels.

I think the fit is bad.

Anyone with Alden's Loafer can give an advice?

Should I get a US 10 with A/C width or US 9.5 with B/D width?

Really depends on your feet type: wide, narrow, hi/low instep, flat foot? Hard for anyone to advise frankly.

My feet don't have a problem. My toe width with B/D is fine. But the heel slipping seems like a problem.

To 'tighten' the fit, I have two options:

US 9.5 B/D

or

US 10 A/C

Do you know how is the shipping like? Btw, if I am wearing size 37 for edetal Nicol shoes, is size 6D suitable for the below design?

I am interested in this.
Factory-Second Shoe Availability

They don't ship to sg, check your forwarder the cost
Since dark_aLLeY plan to get together it will be cheaper.

Size 37 don't think it translates to 6D, feels like u getting 1 size up

You can use saddle soap to strip off all the polishes built up.

sorry, I should've been more specific - what I meant was to strip the layer of lacquer used to smoothen out the grain. Saddle soap still works in this instance?

Thanks for the sizing chart. A edetal size EU37 is like US6.5? I never owned a pair of Alden before, so want to make sure it should be as close as possible...

I am also wearing US5.5E for Redwing 875 and US6D for 8165...

Do take note of the width also...

US D is uk E width
US E is uk F width

Ed shoe are normally on uk E Width

This will depending if you should size down....

Just saw this. IMO you have two big problems. First, you are getting loafers online. I think it was already mentioned here that loafers have to be very well fitting in order to be wearable, due to lack of laces. Second, it's the freaking Aberdeen last, the most ridiculous last from Alden.

IMO it looks good from the top, but the underside shows how weird it is. See the size of the heel versus the bend inwards from the back to the front? Right now you have heel slip. If you get a narrower size, you will break your little toe. If you get a smaller size, you will crush the rest of your smaller toes, and probably still have heel slip.

I already sold mine on Styleforum a few months back. I will leave it to those who have access to a brick and mortar Alden store to play around with this last.

Agree that Alden is best bought only when you are able to try. Not just because of the lasts but also due to the US-sizing system which making conversion from UK or EU doubly complicated.

After some consideration, I think its safer to test wear and buy from brick and mortar shops. I went ahead for edetal Dunearn.

The only thing is that I am not sure why this model is also charged at $349 and not $300 as indicated in their website. The nice lady says that it will fall under the remastered series, thats why...

Their website i believe perpetually doesnt work for their RTW line. I shared previously about this price increase with a bit of personal advice if u look back to within a month's posts.

Do give a review on fit n quality when u have worn the shoes a few times! Enjoy
