Any interest in this shoe in a blue museum calf? I am willing to organize a GMTO directly or through Skoaktiebolaget. 5 pax needed.

Thanks and noted. I like to try for a chiselled simpson. The current rain last has a heel slippage issue due to a too generous heel and instep and doing it on a monkstrap can be risky. A snug fit on a monkstrap is quite preferable and some people now wear it loafer style with the top unbuckle.

I propose a simpson last, blue museum calf, green lining. Single leather sole which makes for easy topying locally, if one so wishes.

Would be nice we can get enough people to make it a one off Singapore GMTO. But do note MTOs are not returnable.

Hopefully the new retailer here doesn't pull an under armour. Those of you who bought under armour before they arrive in our shores will know what i mean. If it happens your hopes of trying size and buying elsewhere will be dashed.

I concur, i think a snug last such as simpson would be preferable for a monkstrap. Moreover I think it looks sleek as hell! I wouldn't mind 1 in chestnut / cognac as well. Just sayin' :D

Hi folks, check with you folks for advice. I need resoling for my Meermins. Where would you recommend for resoling?

Don't think it's worth it to re-sole a pair of Meermins. Unless you have developed some great patina on it.

Agree with arc, that the quality is lacking here.
My pair of Meermin balmoral boots is ok. But i can tell that the finishing is not as nice as Carmina's and the quality of the leather is also a tad below.

A friend once shared an article (written by J.Fitz) on expectations for shoes that cost below a certain value (300pounds). It was both humbling and sobering.
We probably view Meermins are exceedingly expensive compared to brands we may have been "stepping up" from (namely Pedro / Aldo and the like). But realistically, these relatively "cheaper" GY welt shoes from Meermins will come with defects, and noticeable ones at that. If you get a good pair, then it's surely a big bonus. But the labour costs, leather costs (which, though scrotal like in comparison to other better brands), machinery needed to peform the GY welt process, all come into play. Though you are still getting full grain leather, there will be problems with the shoe, a wonky welt, a weird toecap, asymmetrical medallions. The list goes on. I simply stopped buying Meermins because I knew I would ultimately be setting myself up for disappointment and a waste of money when I eventually try to sell them.
The fact will remain, that as long as it is a human process, there will be problems. And if it is a cheap human process, there will be even more problems.
I had a lot of trouble reconciling myself to this fact initially. But eventually, if you wish to get a better pair of shoes, you simply need to pay more. That is the price of perfection; money. Sad, but true.

Is yours from the master line or the GY1? If it is the latter, I would just simply call it a day, unless it is some special upper like shell or you feel it is extremely comfortable and the upper is not too thrashed.

If so, try edetal.

Good stuff are not cheap; cheap stuff are not good.
