Congrats on getting flagship HP.

But the qns is due to the curved screen, will you be getting uv glass (glue) tempered screen protector? I have read that when others try to take it out, it spolits their HP screen.

Curve screen sucks. I drop n crack at curve.

It's a gimmick, benefit the phone maker

Once u flash, effectively is the same as breaking apart official seal.

So if want updates, u need to manually flash everytime with new version...

*ps I am noob so I stick with official versions and don't flash

I am please to be a new owner of Xiaomi 13. This smartphone has provided me the features that I need:
1. A good Leica camera, when I was using Poco F3, the photos taken is quite blurry when there is a lot of light in the surrounding.
2. eSIM - by activating the eSIM, my 2nd sim card will be disabled for the time being. With eSIM, I no longer need swap out my sim card with a physical sim card overseas (save me the trouble of forgetting to bring sim card as well)
3. Work profile - I wasn't able to onboard my work profile on Poco F3. Now I no longer need to bring two phone one for work and one personal around.
4. Decent battery life - With a 4500 mah battery, it provides all the power I need for a day, no longer do I need to bring an extra power bank around. It also has a 67W charger as compared to the 33W charger that I used previous to quickly charge the phone. This can also support wireless charging and I probably will need to buy a magnetic cover.
5. Design, at 6.36 inch, the phone is not too small not too large and can fit my palm very well. It has a nice design - a green glass backing as well.
6. DC dimming mode - this feature exists on some model of smartphone. When I turn on this feature, it can greatly reduce eyestrain.
Initially I wanted to buy Samsung S23FE, but the PWM is 240Hz(go google why samsung smartphone can cause eyestrain and headache). I also wanted to buy Xiaomi 14 the next release however, the global version isn't out yet. Oneplus 12 also isn't out yet.
By the way I brought this 2nd hand at $720

nice. i was thinking about changing my second phone (work phone) to a smaller compact phone. Am still thinking between Galaxy S23, Xiaomi 13, iPhone 15. Currently using a Galaxy S21+. I have used xiaomi in the past with Mi 10 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro and i know how xiaomi feels and works like.

Not sure if it's good idea to go back and try Xiaomi 13, for the form factor and lecia optics. Good that it has eSIM. I also toyed with the idea of changing to iPhone 15, but the 60hz display puts me off. Moreover, i'm now used to Samsung ecosystem and google ecosystem where i can conveniently backup and restore apps and files. If i use iPhone 15, i will be using a sole phone inside the apple ecosystem, despite owning a MacBook Pro. I also don't want to be stuck in apple ecosystem and i will never will .
I own a lot Xiaomi IOT products at home and some Samsung and Google IOT products at home, non are using apple.

Is the DC Dimming mode a feature that can be turn on? I'm just worried how long the OS and security updates will last. Samsung mentioned 5 years of security, 4 years of OS upgrades. Not sure for xiaomi 13 series how good is it.

Where did you get the second hand? I'm thinking to get one too, otherwise, maybe i'll try Xiaomi 14

If you can afford to wait, I suggest you get the Xiaomi 14 global version when it launch next year as it has a 1.5k display with a 50mp*3 camera whereas my camera is only 50mp+8mp+2mp. Alternatively, you can get the Oneplus 12 or look for any global variant of Redmi K70 Ultra. The 2nd hand comes and go in Carousell, may or may not have stock.

Its not only the 60HZ display at apple, the Xiaomi phone boast a 1920hz PWM whereas Samsung and Apple is about 240hz PWM (this is a crucial factor to consider if you are suffering for headache and eye strain)

thank you, xiaomi always kept us waiting for the global version. just hope the xiaomi 14 don't keep us waiting. I looked at the xiaomi 14, seems impressive.

If you are ok with Chinese, 14 is quite a huge upgrade over 13 vanilla, but have to bear with more Chinese app/function that are not useful outside of China.

The biggest difference is the right top pull down menu. There are less icons available now.

i thought underlying core will be using AOSP & not Android? so google play, map, pay etc still available? or need to get apps from getapps going forward?

When I boot up my phone, the bottom of the start up screen still reads Powered by Android. Then the HyperOS logo appears. The setting reads Android 14. So essentially it is back to normal.

Just a quick review on it compared to my K50 Ultra.

As a phone, it is almost identical except that it it is slightly slimer and easier to grip.

For the cameras, they are able to autofocus a lot faster and much more accurate even in a dim environment.

For those who like travelling, there is no history timeline and e-sim, although the photos and videos provide the location information.

So one is really paying more than double mainly just for the better cameras.

No, I can't. There is also no on/off setting under the Google account on the phone.

When I set up the Redmi K60 Ultra (China ROM), I can see the settings there, but not on this phone.

Hence, Xiaomi's software on China ROM is not consistent.
